If we publicized that information, wouldn't it be kind of like putting up a giant neon sign that says, "HEY TERRORISTS, GO HERE!"?

BlueMoon 05-20-2008 05:48 AM

Only pilots though. Still will have to wait for the FA' to clear security and they generally have more things and take a little bit longer.

I really wish this wasn't in the news at all, the public doesn't need to knows this kind of thing or at least it doesn't need a public announcement

I thought crewpass was going to be biometric?

I know this is just an ID check, but I can't see any opposition to a biometric system. Can't get much more secure than that.

Killer51883 05-20-2008 06:10 AM

it sounds like they want to check us to see if we are in cass and then let us go if we are. i hope the tsa can do better at using that program than most gate agents

ExperimentalAB 05-20-2008 07:12 AM

Nice picture of ORD there LoL

I thought it was DCA, I don't go to either a whole lot though.

Its because you don't fly.

:D

Give me Crew Pass so I can stop being mean to the TSA.

Oh god, give me a break. The 3 airports are just test airports and hopefully soon every airport will go to this system. Also, TSA will be checking their Crew badge along with the database photo. It's not like just anybody will be able to go thru, and if was an unsafe system it wouldn't be happening.

Finally, security that makes sense. Anyone and their brother could make a fake ID. With a fake ID (or even a real one, taken from a pilot's hotel room or worse...) anyone dressed as a pilot can get access to the secured area of an airport.

Hopefully they will actually be checking the photos to match us.

attn; terrorists, go to DENVER!
etc etc

let's keep this in perspective. cockpit door access, hijack etc. procedures, yeah. keep those to ourselves.

that said, it cracks me up when pilots on these boards thinks that we're somehow privy to this top secret:rolleyes: stuff. as if the terrorist will come to these boards before, say, the TSA website?

This is public information.

So we keep our info to ourselves and anyone else can go to the TSA site !

usmc-sgt 05-20-2008 04:54 PM

I am not sure how much better it will be. I cant count how many times a gate agent has told me I am not in CASS or taken over ten minutes to verify that I am in the system. I typically go through security in less than 5 minutes so im not sure how much it will really help.

I would be looking forward to not taking off my watch and remembering my phone and taking out my laptop and unhooking my flightcase and throwing it all on the belt. Not to mention that for some reason my pants set off the detector in BTV and I get searched everytime.

Ok...maybe it would be a little better.

CAPIP1998 05-20-2008 05:00 PM

Yeah, I just did my first trip to BTV. I swear they have a super-detector or something. Everything set that thing off. I wouldn't mind crewpass there, for sure.

It is. The biometric part is your face. You can make a fake ID with your mug on it but you can't just insert your picture into the database. Sounds pretty secure to me. And it's not like those guys working the exits don't have enough time on their hands sitting there on their stool.

not to worry, by the time it gets passed there will not be enough pax to form a line.

Or Pilots, for that matter...

CFDoubleeye 05-20-2008 10:19 PM

Will ALPA exec's take millions in bonuses when the union dies?

TAKING IT BACK.... like BACKWARD

JayHub 05-20-2008 11:00 PM

I'm all for it. I try to be nice to TSA guys and do understand that they are just doing their job, but sometimes you get the ones with the King Kong egos and some that are just retarded.......seriously....it can be very frustrating sometimes, even in the designated crew lanes.

on second thoughts it might make things worse because now they've got to use a computer:eek:.....

This sounds like a TSA Trainer - screener interaction.
