Question for Comair pilots
I interviewed on May 14th, and was hired later that day. My class date is June 2nd. I just have a couple simple questions about Comair.
1. I'm thinking about driving my only means of transportation, a motorcycle, down to Cincinnati. How important is my own mode of transportation? Is it worth the hassle of mailing all my clothes and a painful drive? 2. After training I am planning to move to New York. Do we have any free time between the end of training and the start of reserve where I could actually get this done? 3. What's the proper dress during training? Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
1. It's up to you. I brought my car and was very happy I did. It was a 9 hour drive to Cincinnati for me. Hotel will provide transportation to training center and limited transportation in the area. Also, other classmates will probably have cars so it's not that big of a deal if you don't have your own transportation. Remember, training is 2 months..just depends on if you think you can be without your motorcycle for that long.
2. After training, it all depends on how backed up they are with IOE. I waited about 2 weeks to start IOE, plenty of time to move. After IOE, you'll be put on reserve pretty much the next day so you'll want to make sure you're moved in by then. 3. Business casual. |
When I came down to CVG for training I brought my car, lots of clothes, and my lap top. I waited til after IOE to get some days off and drive all my stuff down in a U haul truck.
Khakis and a button up or polo shirt was what i wore throughout training |
Thanks for the help, I just needed to know what to pack. Looking forward to getting started.

Welcome Aboard.

I did without a car during training and it was just fine. I was put on reserve right as I finished IOE. But I called the Chief Pilot and asked if I could have a little more time. He gave me one personal day, which at least gave me time at least to get some things together for the crashpad. But if you tell him you are flat out moving, he may give you a few more. If not, you'll just have to wait until you have a group of days off. What part of NY are you going to move to?

I've decided i'm just going to fly out there and leave my motorcycle at home. I'm looking to move to Brooklyn, my girlfriend works in finance so Brooklyn would be good for her.

Yeah I wouldn't move to New York unless I had a reason like that
