ASA and Comair parking planes?

So I wake up this morning (4/22) to read the USA Today, only to see in the Money section (page 4B) that ASA and Comair plan to park about 70 of the -200s! No information about it is to be found on ASA's website, in fact, the last message from BH says we are increasing numbers, adding flights, and seeing new opportunities for growth. Once I saw Kit Darby's name mentioned in the article, I figured it was probably some of his usual tripe. That, and I usually don't believe the media unless they are reporting something that already happened. I can't believe I haven't seen it posted here yet, but has anyone else read this or any other similar stories?

"An announcement by Delta Air Lines this spring indicates how business judgment has turned against the RJs. Delta, which early this decade committed itself to operating the biggest fleet of them in the nation through its regional affiliates Comair and ASA, said it will dump 70 of those planes out of its Delta Connection operation by fall."

Re-read it. It doesn't say Comair and ASA are dumping planes, it says Delta Connection.

MCO is being greatly downsized, so whoever covers MCO for DAL can expect to see some of the cutbacks.

Do you propose we all refrain from questions completely, then? The only dumb question is the question that isn't asked. But, I guess you have all the answers now, don't you...You smart guy, you...

BoredwLife 05-22-2008 06:36 PM

I was trying to think of something to say but I was just to tired to be witty. Thank you for covering for me AB.

citationdrvrmob 05-22-2008 06:37 PM

Yeah, my apologies guys. They mention ASA and Comair at the end of one phrase before mentioning the one about "Delta Connection" losing 70 jets in the other phrase. And I did so well in Reading Comprehension in middle school.... I bet those planes being parked are from Mesa/Freedom. Any way to delete this thread before raising anyone else's heart rate?

RJ Pilot 05-22-2008 06:38 PM

The 50 seater market is dead.

Not if you're in my class... There are lots of dumb questions asked.

I gawked at it too.. Glad someone has a good enough memory to connect this article with the old announcement. Thanks guys, I can sleep easier now.

Its just so so so OLD. There is a 500+ page thread about Comair that is actively talked about...just ask there. It is tittled "Comair Updates"

BoredwLife 05-22-2008 06:46 PM

My goal is to read all 417 pages of that thread. Its like a history book!!

And the 1900 died a long time ago yet they're still flying around. What's your point?

reevesofskyking 05-22-2008 09:03 PM

Does anyone know what is going to happen to Freedom in a week or so,
last thing I know there is/was a court hearing to happen on may 27 on the issue

ExperimentalAB 05-22-2008 09:13 PM

reevesofskyking 05-22-2008 09:21 PM

Stryker 05-23-2008 06:41 AM

CTPILOT 05-23-2008 12:50 PM

not sure how true this is about Comair, cuz we were told were bringing back aircraft to the line that were originally gonna be parked, and we just picked up hiring. But who knows

Bringing back parked 50-seaters? I can't see that happening for anybody.

yeah I know but I guess they need all the planes they can't get I bet Big D would rather have the 70/90 flying the routes but aren't enough of them....yet, so in the meantime the Canadian Concorde will fly the new routes

DYNASTY HVY 05-24-2008 04:00 AM

Saw a couple DC parked at CAL.s maint hanger at MCO yesterday.
Wonder if they would make for good biz jets?

Hell ya Comair's cabin is nicer. With worn out seat cushions, broken seat backs, coke and coffee stained floors, pi$$ all over the lavatories, duct tape holding up sidewalling, sticky galley floors, and so on and so forth. Why in the world would anyone want to make a biz jet out of a....um....er...a biz jet??:D;)

afxarmed 05-24-2008 03:20 PM
