Correct me if I'm wrong, but the ATR won't be seeing ORD again unless some big things change...They don't do props there anymore. Period.

Hmm, I was talking to a Pretty senior CPT that was here in BNA a few days back and he said something similar to that... Something that the certs were set to expire, and would cost somethung like 5 mil per airframe to get em back up and goin.

5 mil might be worth it if gas stays the way it is.

Hey guys at eagle, The million dollar question: Besides shrinking what are the plans for eagle's fleet upgrade?. I mean the ATRs and Saabs are getting old. The ERJs, (specially the 37 seaters) gotta go soon due fuel prices. Does Eagle have a plan to update the fleet? i.e. Q400, CRJ900, etc? I mean, shrinking is one thing, but they'll have to adjust to the oil prices in a medium-long term. Does anybody know what's Eagle game plan?
I hate to see a company like Eagle going south. I really like Eagle, it has been a stable decent regional for years........
Anyways, I was just wondering, my best wishes to you Eagle guys !

Scope with mainline limits what Eagle can do(for now). Eagle management currently have no freedom to seek out other business or aircraft, they are just puppets doing what big daddy says.

Correct. Eagle can only fly what Scope says they can fly. Getting bigger, newer jets would take an act of God. The APA *hates* Eagle and will fight any growth tooth and nail.

Eagle can however buy all the turboprops they want.

Unfortunately, I don't think they really have a plan. Just shrinking. I know the union is currently trying to negotiate those 10 145's back from TSA. IMO there is no way you'll see any jet aircraft with over 50 seats with the exception of the 25 CRJ's we already have. Maybe something like getting Q400's with 14 first class 50 coach is the most I see APA giving in. In fact the Q400's should replace entire fleet much like with what Horzion is undergoing. Something will have give though or Eagle will be gone when our contract expires in 2012. It will get interesting for sure but, I see no way Eagle flying E170's unless we were combined to 1 seniority list. I think APA would rather put AMR in ch7 then let Eagle fly 170's and rightfully so they should. You let the horse out of the barn before you know its driving the sleigh. Again JMO.

APA/scope is the real problem and Eagle management are puppets, no question. For whats it's worth this is the rumor around the training center in Dallas:

Assuming some arrangement can be worked out with scope Eagle would like to replace the 37/40-seat ERJs with new ATRs. ATR had a demonstrator in Dallas recently and because of upgrades to the airplane, i.e. hot wing deice and faster speed, etc., Eagle would put the planes in any of the bases.

There is a service life on the ATRs currently in use, and the FAA I was told will not grant any more exemptions. My understanding is that the airplanes we have now will all be pumpkins by 2011, with some going as early as next year.

That is a bad thing. Scope gives us all something to move on to. I'd rather fly under the work rules at AA over Eagle any day of the week.

Listerine must have taken too much market share then.

I know you're not talking about airline scope! Show me one Mainline pilot that wants that.
