Working hours..Really "Guaranteed"?

The guaranteed hours by each regional airline regular and reserve -70, 75 etc...........
Is this really guaranteed or do they always give you less hours than they say on the airlines profile? Just wondering because I am trying to figure out how much I will make in the regionals, including my Army retirement check each month once I start into this industry.
Thanks for any constructive comments.

Nah you'll always get at least that stated min guarantee. Of course payroll always likes to play games with paychecks so staying on top of your pay is prudent. Anything "funny" on your paycheck and brought to attention is usually remedied quite quick with proper evidence

The collective bargaining agreement (cba) or contract will spell out the min. pay.

I assume that the APC listing is accurate.....

There may be reduced guarantees during training, but generally you can plan on at least the monthly guarantee once you get on line. This would be reduced if you took leave (FMLA, military reserve duty, etc).

If you actually fly you will also make some per diem.

once you do have a line you can safely assume youll get close to 80-85 hours some times more each month

A little to the right of center, just like my politics! Yeah I think I'm still auditing some of my last MAG paychecks for gross errors. Guess I better get on it a little quicker!
How's life in the ATL?

I will not be in the Army reserves then. I will retire from active duty soon though. 20 yrs is enough! hahhaa
Will your regional let you fly MORE than the minimums if you want to fly more, like if someone goes on vacation? Can you ask to fill their slot? I'm jsut trying to gain knowledge how this all works.

how long does a regional usually keep you on reserve status?

Generally, airlines like to run under-staffed. This means that most lines will typically fly (and credit) more than 75 hours. 85-90 hours is probably typical.

Also there is often extra flying that you can pick up on your days off, if you are legal to do so (duty and flight time limits).

Right now, due to the industry slowdown, a lot of airlines are overstaffed so you might not see lines much above guarantee. Also extra time (aka open time) is not likely to be very available for a while either. Eventually this will come back to "normal".
