Skywest reserve

Just curious,

Any ideas or "ball parks" how long a new hire would be on reserve for the EMB at Skywest?

With the movement that's currently happening and peak season coming up, I would guess 2-4 months or less of reserve if based in FAT and longer elsewhere.

Others could probably give better insight.

I know you are asking about the bro, but I am on the jet at ORD and I have been on reserve since March with no line in sight. It could be worse, I live in base!

And you're going to be reserve for quite a while longer seeing that the only new pilots to the RJ are coming from the Bro and are senior to you. All new hires will be headed to the Bro and with Bro FO's headed to the RJ; reserve time on the Bro is and will be significantly less than on the jet.

Good thing you live in base. LOL!

I was in class in Jan finished IOE end of feb and I had an ok line for march. I am not sure what this thing called reserve is but it doesn't sound like any fun.;)

Hey Ryan,

You still looking at commuting out of RAP? I'm still rocking the FAT commute, once a week usually. So did you get hired on at SKYW, or checking up on research?

People below me are holding lines in SLC (a senior base) in 6 months on the RJ. (I know not the EMB, but I'm sure people want to know). Commuting to reserve is like pulling out a tack hammer and hitting yourself on the head. Stupid.:(

JK is right on here. The Bro reserve will be short if your going to be based in FAT. There is quite a few of us that will be transfering out of there soon so movement there should be pretty good in the comming months and reserve time will be low. If you are ORD based and are on reserve there are a few of us Bro guys that are trying to get in there so we will be pushing you back a few numbers when we get in......sorry!

I have been awared SLC on the jet and if I went there today I would be on reserve and I have been here just a few days shy of 14 months. In DEN it would be even worse. You have to have been here awhile if your holding a line in SLC! ORD and MKE it would all be a different story all together.

Go to SKW on line and check the PBS award info vs. the seniority list.

I have a friend who started with SKW in Nov 07 and he's still a few months away from a line in ORD. Currently I'd put reserve time in ORD at and around 8 months. All other domiciles on the RJ are longer including SLC which like ANP said is probably around 14 months.

According to the PBS award info:

CRJ
ORD: 174 lines/last line holder has a hire date of 09/07 (8 months)
SLC: 320 lines/last line holder has a hire date of 04/07 (14 months)

EMB
FAT: 66 lines/last line holder has a hire date of 04/08 !!!!!! (1 month) (only 70 total FO's in FAT & the # of lines are increasing)
SLC: 33 lines/last line holder has a hire date of 07/07 (11 months)

Note: above info does not include those who have been suspended from PBS for FMLA, Medical, Mil, training, etc.
