I don't see why not. They let the other passengers bring so much crap on board. It was probably mentioned in the threads about AA charging for bags. But if they REALLY wanted to make money off of luggage, they would charge for EVERY carry on bag. Good grief, the amount of stuff people bring on board is out of control.

I assume you are going to be DH'd on either end of the TDY? When you check in, tell the gate agent you are on a DH and would like to go down early to stow your stuff. USUALLY, they will not have a problem with it.

Seriously, like some of the other guys have said, look into the FedEx option. The 3 or 4 times I went to training events and knew I was going to be gone a while, I just FedEx'd a box to the hotel. Called the hotel, told them I'll be there a month and there will be a box arriving and to hold it for me.

Works great and it's less crap you have to carry around with you.

The agent will 9 times out of 10 say something about 3. Make it into 2 and you may be ok. They typically require 1 carry on and 1 personal item. If the flight is empty you may be able to get away with it but don't chance it.

Imagine if this rule was ACTUALLY enforced for revenue passengers.
