Don't fret.

DL wants 9E to have a signed contract with their pilot group (which has already conducted a strike vote).

PNCL short-staffs as much as possible and their class dates have always been last minute--too little-too late. Hang in there and keep a bag packed. They'll call you at 4pm on a Friday for a Monday start.

I concur with this person. Looks like we have a new person here from 9E... Welcome!

Welcome to 9E if you end up getting a class date, and keep your head up...there is a lot of negativity in the industry and in the company right now, but if we can survive the merger/slump and get a contract things will be OK around here...of course that's a huge if. In addition, if the contract has any decent work rule adjustments, we might have a larger need for crews and lose a few way senior guys waiting for their bonus check...so you might get a little movement and a class date this year...maybe.

Thanks for the friendly welcome! I can not wait to get a start date. Hopefully it will be this year,

Nice source....but from what I heard, it's not true. They still are looking for pilots.

...just talked to a friend in Pinnacle H/R, Christina, and they plan to continue hiring through 2008.

I wouldn't take this post seriously.

Christina did my HR interview back in February. Really friendly person, has great judgment too... they hired me :p

(Don't mean to hijack the thread)

yeah it should be. last time they did this it was a disaster. luckily i got in at the beginning of the new hiring spree back at the end of 05 and in a little over 2.5 years i have nearly 700 pilots below me. so just hang in there.

How senior are you to me? You going to upgrade anytime soon?

Yep. Waiting on the bday but I probably will not get my stuff in before the next vacancy. I am thinking I may want to plan the training around the holidays so I can be home cause lord knows after I upgrade I will work every holiday until I leave this place.

Good idea... I had Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years off last year since I was in ground school during the holidays :)

PIC time rules. Who cares if you have a lousy QOL for two years. If it gets you out of there it is worth it.

Get in and get out...looks good on paper, but where's he gonna go?

mia389 06-25-2008 08:06 PM

To a furlough maybe.

Doesn't work that way anymore, at least not consistently.

Right now, I'd probably be looking for a good place to hang out for a few years with a lower risk of furlough and good QOL.

Actually if I were not already at a regional, I'd probably look for GA jobs where you could make more money while the industry shakes out. You're not going to lose much seniority with things slowing to a crawl (or going into reverse).
