NO more Colgan Q400s for CAL?

June 11 CAL 8K Fleet plan through 2010 calls for only the origional 15 Qs. More bad news for PNCL corp? The 2009 options were supposed to be decided 2 months ago, looks like they finally decided. I doubt UAL will pick up the 2009 options seeing that they are worse off than CAL.

Wow what an interesting report

The word at Colgan is that the options are projected to be exercised at the end of this month, in fact they are looking for hanger space in IAH. I doubt that will happen (for CAL anyway).

CAL has been concerned about the MX reliability of the Q fleet, evidently they made their decision. Although things can always change -- no matter the case Colgan cannot get any more Q's (above the 15 already ordered) until 1st quarter 2010, which is a long time from now in the airline world.

Good read.

I have heard from a few reputable sources (but really, are any sources reputable?) that we are announcing the 10 firm orders at the end of the month. Where they are going I have no idea. To be perfectly honest I dont believe things that are supposed to happen tonight in this industry let alone a month plus down the road. I know a few carriers were looking for them but who is in a position to actually take on more airframes right now? If they dont go to CAL who in IAH would want a Q?

Unless we buy someone elses slots than 2010 is way to far away to even be thinking about this. I hope to not see 2009 at a regional let alone 2010.

I had heard the saabs were going away in Houston in exchange for the Q's or a smaller dash 8. I doubt on a 1-1 deal but who knows. Supposedly the q's would be parked at the b84 gates (old hardstands) and the current ramp you guys use would be under construction.

I was talking to a Bombardier guy back in December and he mentioned something about Colgan getting 300s or 200s and then stopped talking about it and that was it. Also on the Bombardier website a few months back it said something about Colgan getting 300s but then it was gone after not even a day. Maybe I was just seeing things.

A common fleet type would make sense and a Q300 would be a good replacement for the Saab but I would imagine that would be a long, painful and expensive project.

Looking at the current state of the industry I think it's pretty safe to say no more Qs are coming. While the Q is a great airplane and companies may be interested in it, the bottom line is all the airlines are in survival mode. After 9/11 survival mode meant reduce mainline capacity and grow the regionals. The current survival mode is reduce capacity across the board. The Q is attractive to airlines, but they just can't afford to be adding more risk.

I hope I'm wrong, but I see no more Qs, and less Saabs in our future.

Here is the fleet plan. No more 135's as ExpressJet brings back some 145's from our other ops. I guess this is another official word on all the CRJ-200's being phased out as well. Hopefully Republic can just be straight up with my buddy who is a IAH CRJ FO. He said they won't tell them the official status of the IAH CRJ base there being around. The least they could do is tell those guys they probably will have to move or transition to a different aircraft.

Well guys, everyone needs to hang in there, the price of OIL will drop quicker then a Strippers panties at a Bachelor party.............just going to take some time. The price is ARTIFICIALLY INFLATED, and like anything else (Dot.com boom/bust, & Housing market), OIL too will drop dramatically, It will just be a matter of who is still standing when it does............
