Initial training

Anybody have tips on items to bring to new-hire initial training? I start with Trans States on March 13th in STL.

Is it a good idea to buy a flight bag now, or once I'm already at training?

Thanks for the help!

I'm in ground school right now. I'm holding off on buying the flight bag until I know what will fit my stuff well, what will fit in the plane and what I'll like the best. I figure if I get something right off the bat, I may wish I had gotten something else.

What has training been like so far? Any advice?

A bit challenging. Be prepared to study and work hard. If you made it this far, you'll be fine.

you can buy a catalog case at office max for 30 bucks... won't last more than a year but it will get you through you sim stuff and couple months online... I have to spend some money on a new flight case but you'll get more money on reserve if your strapped for cash.

That thing will break quicker than a year. It'll last a month in the rainy season.

This thing is much better -

Aluminum Flight Case

I have one, it's lasted 6 months so far with no signs of breaking. Fits in the box in the CRJ, might wanna ask around about the ERJ, but I'm guessing its the same. It's the same size as the $300 flight bags. I paid $30 for mine though, this one is only $13 + $22 in shipping.

Wow... thanks for the link. I've seen that same case for 70 bucks. I've been told room in the CRJ and ERJ are identical.

Thanks again!

you can check out www.outermarker.com they have great gear, highly recommend the PNT rollerboard, fits in the ERJ, CRJ, Brasilia overhead.
As far as flight kits go, the ballistic flight kit is pretty good, last long time if you don't want a 300 dollar leather one.

The outermarker is a great place. I get my crew logbooks from there (8 legger I think is what I have).

But $270 on luggage! Holy smokes. I bought a 22" samsonite from TJ Maxx for $22.00. Fits in the CRJ overhead, not sure about the ERJ. :). This guy is a first year FO!
