SkyWest Inc. to dip into foreign market

Sorry if this is a repost, anybody else listen to Jerry's presentation? He wouldn't say where, but he said they're in talks with a foreign airline.

No more than 100 million dollars in any one airline over 3 years. Doesn't sound like "bigger" planes. About 30 million in each of 3 countries.

Investing in a currently operating international carrier. Similar size business, not same (regional / contract) business model.

He talked about it at the last Raymond James conference.

Isn't this that Brazil thing?

I doubt jerry intends to operate a foriegn airline. I suspect he is simply diversifying investments out of the USA (I did this several years ago) and is looking to foriegn airlines becaues he knows the business and is better able to evaluate opportunities then say diamond mines or coffee plantations.

I thought he already had an airline in Africa?

does anyone know why the stock is up 10%

dba74 06-19-2008 02:20 PM

Almost all airline stocks were up today on crude price drop. Happens almost every time. Good day to sell. Buy when crude goes up. Repeat as necessary. XJT not so good today though setting another all-time low of $1.10/ share

i had looked at mese and xjt and they were down but stopped there.
