Had a feeling about this one. Sorry to hear it. I've only met a few of the guys there but all were great bunch.

Yeah, MEH is/was a different breed...

Talk is our flying will only be decreasing by two aircraft...about the same percentage of MEH's total fleet in MD...

All is not so rosy in MKE.

I think grounding all their MD-80s will be a much larger reduction than 2 of 15+ A/C we fly for them.

There is no way they will still need all that feed to/from GRB, MSN, ATW, etc when they are going to cut virtually all their leisure destination routes.

Okay...our equipment cut is approximately 13%, while there's is about 30%. Thanks for keeping me honest...!

How many CRJs are on the MidEx side now?

Flyboydan 06-21-2008 03:15 PM

This is great news for Air Tran as they are already flying to all of the YX west coast flights non-stop. I can only imagine they will double their flights to pick up the slack come the winter travel season.

Midwest is like a new hire in an RJ. Falling behind themselves with a rapidly moving world around them. Those MD-80s should have been replaced 10 years ago, oh well.

I believe it's 21, not 15. Loosing two is about an 11% reduction.

Ok- now what will happen to the senior captains that fly that plane? Will they just go to another airline and start over at the bottom? Do other companies hire senior pilots like that and make them captains immediately?

nope that is one of the messed up parts of this industry....its probably only 70% paycut.... sarcasm....
