Jumpseating on gulfstream.
This last weekend, my wife and i was nonreving/jumpseating from PBI EYW on continental express operated by gulfstream airlines. We arrive at the ticket counter and were told that we could not list and that we should have listed in advance. I was not able to list on coAir so i decided to wait until we got to the airport. After some whining and complaining on the part of the agent she was able to issue a couple of tickets. I had to pay 60$ for my wife both ways. We were subjected to special screening because our passes had "ssss" on them.
1: I thought domestic non-rev was free for spouses (were goinbg on CAL mainline later this month and its free) 2: Why were we elected for special screening? 3: Why could i not list online or over the phone with CAL. |
Generally whenever you list last minute and one way you will be selected for selectee screening. The other 2 things i dont know anything about tho.

Well, what do you expect from a company where the F/O pays more than the passenger.... |
I know that if you are an airline or airport employee you don't need to be selectee, next time show your ID to the agent, and he/she must eliminate the SSSS from your boarding pass.
Also apply for spouses, parents and children of employee. Remember that the airline already made a backgroubnd check of you, no need to be selectee for TSA. |

Last minute issued tickets are always subject to screening. 3. You can list on COAIR for CAL flights operated by mainline or express (including both XJT and CHQ), but not all "connection" carriers. All turbo-prop operators are "connection" carriers, RJ's are express flights. Therefor, Gulfstream being a "connection" carrier, probably does not participate in employeeRes system. Hope this helps. |
did you pay the $60 in cash? my wife has gotton the ssss with last min non rev tickets paid in cash credit card usually not

If you're flying on Gulfstream, security screening should be the LEAST worrying thing!
