There isn't a regional out there that isn't hitting the skids out there right now. XJT (Closing branded operation...furloughing hundreds), Comair (losing flying...furloughing hundreds), Eagle (losing flying...furloughing hundreds, Mesa (y'all know), Republic (losing UAL flying...furlough coming, TSA/HoJet (Losing AA flying...furloughs coming), ASA, Skywest, etc. etc. etc. etc. Maybe it is time to give the Mesa bashing, etc. a rest and keep your eye on the real issue. Will your individual airline survive this crisis? Unfortunately, many will not and that will mean a whole helluva lot of good people out on the street looking for flying jobs in really challenging times. For those who are have gotten or are now getting their furlough notices, best of luck to you. For those who are still employed, do all you can to help fellow furloughed airlines pilots get hired at your airline. The Cessna 150 Flight Instructor can wait a little longer for his shot at the ring. Help out those who are furloughed FIRST! |
I agree completely!!!! I am new to this forum, but not new to the industry.
All my fellow brothers and sisters in the industry are hurting right now, or will/may be hurting in the very near future. Anyhow, I pray for each and every one of you out there, pray for your airline, and the well-being of your families. It's gonna get ugly, but know there are some of us praying for you, even if we do work for one of your competitors. |
I'm glad to have a job flying pipers and teaching people how to fly, I'm still shocked to see people wanting to learn to fly and actually think about going to the airlines in the near future...hmm...hopefully I'll be first before my students. if that ever happens

I figured people would assume Mesa was better due to nothing but the stock price. |

I would jump on wagon and wish you ill, but it seems you guys at Comair are screwed enough as it is.

Really can't believe you guys are arguing about stock prices which are within 15 cents of each other. Everyone's stock is in the toilet right now, the majors are low and the regionals are lower.
This bickering back and forth is sad and pathetic. Anyway back to my Filipino, midget porn. |
Delisting
The removal of a listed security from the exchange on which it trades. Stock is removed from an exchange because the company for which the stock is issued, whether voluntarily or involuntarily, is not in compliance with the listing requirements of the exchange. Listing Requirements In other words, if a company messes up, the exchange will kick the company out of its exclusive club. A stock that has experienced a steep price decline and is trading below $1 is very risky because a relatively small price movement could result in a huge percentage swing (just think - with a $1 stock, a difference of $0.10 means a change of 10%). In low volume penny stocks, the fraudsters flourish and stocks are much more easily manipulated; major exchanges don't want to be associated with this type of behavior, so they delist the companies that are liable to be affected by such manipulation. |
Well, it looks like I'm now in bed with XJT and I now own more of XJT than I do of SKW. I feel good about their future even though there are turbulent waters ahead; buying XJT stock is much safer than buying MAGs and at $.36 per share I couldn't resist. I feel that once XJT reorganizes their stock will start to reflect a price more in line with the company’s actual stability.
I’ve always said that I think XJT has a solid future and now I’m putting my money were my mouth is, in the end we’ll see. Best of luck guys and keep up the good work. BTW, I didn't invest more than I'm willing to lose but I'm sure most of you would think that it's way too much. |
PHOENIX - Mesa Air Group Inc. said Wednesday traffic fell 15.3 percent in June, citing the continued impact of severe weather and other issues slowing operations.
The airline company's total traffic in June fell to 526.2 million revenue passenger miles, from 621.1 million revenue passenger miles in June 2007. A revenue passenger mile measures one paying passenger flown one mile. Capacity fell 12.7 percent to 669.3 million available seat miles, from 766.6 million a year earlier. Load factor, an industry measure of occupancy, fell 2.4 percentage points to 78.6 percent. "Much of the operation was impacted by severe weather and air traffic control issues significantly impacting our on-time performance," Chairman and Chief Executive Jonathan Ornstein said in a statement. For the first half of the year, traffic is down 14.6 percent to 3.01 billion revenue passenger miles from about 3.52 billion in the same period in 2007. Capacity fell 11.6 percent to 4.06 billion available seat miles, from 4.59 billion in the same period a year ago. Occupancy slipped 2.6 percentage points to a load factor of 74.1 percent. Mesa operates contracted flights for several major carriers, including US Airways and United, and flies independently as Mesa Airlines and go! Break this down step by step. • A portion of your overall traffic will drop because of a slumping economy, but why does it matter when no matter whether the flight is full or empty United, Delta, and US Airways is still paying you the same amount for each flight. • Load factor also went down, but still should not matter because everyone else is paying for your fuel. • Much of the operation was impacted by severe weather, and air traffic control issues. Traffic is down and should make it easier, but because no one wants you to fly for them anymore, and the lack of being able to complete a fairly substantial portion of your flights due to weather (way over due maintenance and lack of decently paid/treated crews.) • The capacity will drop because everybody and their grandmother are trying to get rid of your lack luster product so that an airline that operates efficiently, and on time can at least break even for them. |
