This is exactly the attitude that got us into this mess to begin with.... its UAL's software... its NOT any piece of software that any UAX carrier has responsibility for. It WAS correct then UAL changed it... yet somehow you decide that NOW its UAX's carriers problem? Its ALWAYS UAL software... and NEARLY always UAL mainline gate agents but somehow you have the gall to suggest that this is a UAX problem.... unbelievable.
On another note... YOU are spot on for calling out the bozo above who said he hoped UAL would fail... thats just WRONG... good luck all the crew at UAL who will be effected going forward over the next few months.

You can do what our MEC suggested two years ago, referencing the recent UAL MEC letter: "At one point in one of the meetings members of the group were asked if they would petition their managements for money to defray the costs of software upgrades. Not one member offered to ask their management for some monetary assistance."
We've known for two years that UAL management wouldn't fix the problem, so what have the collective UEX pilots done since then? Nothing. It is THEIR problem. They don't have the cajones to address it with their respective managements, so their solution is to threaten the UAL pilots. It is unbelievable that they are somehow offended when the UAL pilots respond in kind. Take some freaking responsibility.
Granted, we codeshare, but we are SEPARATE companies. Apollo is an antiquated relic that is difficult to modify, but are the UEX companies creating their own software? No. Until they can convince their management companies to fix THEIR problem, the problem will not go away.
Solution: take back some Captain authority.

Nice. So did you relieve your guilt sufficiently before expressing your hatred? It's amazing the arrogance of some of the regional guys. And the same goes for the legacy guys. We're control freaks, for God's sake, and arrogance and control run hand-in-hand.
NO ONE should go out of business. If United "goes down," there will be 8,000 more pilots to compete with, and fewer jobs available. Some people need to wise up and need to quit wishing for other's doom. It's your own future your toying with.

arrogance of the regional guy? hmmm...
oh you mean like UAL thinkin their guys should have priority on my plane?
or
do you mean the UAL CA&FO that came up to me in the terminal after a flight they were both deadheading on got cancelled and proceeded to tell me how my regional makes United look bad?
my response... or it could be your terrible leadership, operations, hubs, routes, fleet, and attitude that makes your company look bad.
