ASA update, please
I just want to find out some information on ASA. On July 3, ASA posted a First Officer position on their job page and said they were hiring into a pool. Out of curiosity, I checked again today and their site, while still listing the first officer posting, has changed almost everything about the requirements and minimums. It now says interviews are not taking place even though the first officer position is listed.
I was just curious if any ASA pilots out there could provide an update on the company. I don't see too many threads about them on this site. I did read somewhere on this site that ASA was staffed through the end of this year, but is the company not hiring into a pool anymore? Just curious in case things turn around in the next year or so. |
The latest and greatest from the company and MEC is that we are fully staffed, and we are expected to be "fat" on pilots come September when the flight schedules are reduced. Its looking like we will not be hiring for quite some time.
As long as things remain status quo, we are promised that furloughs will not be announced. This, of course, is out of anyone's control if Delta parks a pile of our airplanes (would this surprise anyone??...NO) |

We will be a tad chubby on pilots in the fall but honestly who knows back even in january and february these companies couldnt hire people fast enough and now everyone is worried about their jobs. Things might change for the better near the end of the year. wait, i think i am being too positive to be posting this.

It's nice to see someone make a positive post. Oil at $100 would sure make a difference.

<insert your own negative comment here about ASA/industry/pay.life> ASA will be hiring within months because they pay so little and the QOL in the industry is going down the crapper. I think everyone should go be accountants. We are all doomed!! DOOMED I SAY!! :) |

That, and as long as no more planes are taken out by the mx department, ASA looks to be in an excellent position to ride through this storm. Someone at ASA has a crystal ball that works very well. Even though I only have about 115 people below me, I'm actually a little hesitant that I am leaving to go back to the Part 135 world.
Good luck on the 135 gig. |

Easy on the ol' mtc boys. They are as prone to mistakes as we are. They consistantly churn out well maintained aircraft. Hate to hear about mishaps.
Good luck on the 135 gig. |
