Please, why should we beg Speculators to stop "speculating", I am tired of having to compensate for Airline managements pathetic job of running an airline. Either pass the cost of fuel on to the customer, or go out of business. Oh wait it doesn't matter cause like Fannie & Freddie, the government will step in and save a failing business.............

Get a grip.

This isn't about just the airlines, It's about food being too expensive to buy, people being unable to put fuel in their cars, or people who can't heat their homes. It's all about the greed of the speculators. It's wrong and should be illegal.

This country looks up to people that rape the average working man, much like speculators, CEO's make 300x what their employees do, and yet they are looked up to and admired on a daily basis. Its Capitalism, get used to it

For LORDS SAKE Brad Pitt and that hooker Angelina Jolie are getting paid $20,000,000.00 for their stupid kids pictures. That is a disgrace and sums up our country pretty well

Even if some kind legislative action or law does get passed here in the US, the oil companies and speculators will just go overseas... as does every US company that doesnt want to comply with our laws and regulations.

The speculators are only part of the problem....but they seem like the easiest to blame. The fact is that they're taking a gamble on future oil prices, and by investing in them they will either win or lose. That's the American way.

While speculation in oil does send the price of oil a little bit higher, most economists agree that the impact is negligible. If we end speculation on oil then maybe the price drops a few dollars a barrel - no more.

You must remember that the price of oil is a function of supply and demand. In the last few years the demand for oil from countries like China and India has skyrocketed...and shows no sign of slowing down - while production of oil has increased at a much slower pace. Demand outstrips supply and the price goes up. Simple economics.

The only way to substantially reduce the price of oil is to substantially reduce the demand for it. Getting rid of speculators alone won't do much. Its easy to blame and vilify the people who are making money off hard times for others - but they are not the sole source of our current woes - we are a bigger part of it.

HEY! We're now the 2nd fattest country in the world. Australia just recently passed us.;)
