Jumpseat to Mexico?
Can we jumpseat to Mexico and Canada on other carriers? Basically if I'm an offline pilot at your airline, could I jumpseat (CASS) to Mexcio?
Thanks! |
no..............

Jumpseat with a cabin seat yes, the actual jumpseat no.

As long as you have a reciprocal agreement with the other carrier you can jumpseat (riding in the cabin or course). A word of advice though, once you get to the other country, espicially mexico, the gate agents will not know that you can jumpseat. If you talk with a captain he should be able to help you out, sometimes they have to call the company and get you listed as a non-rev. But someitmes the captain never comes into the gate area... As a backup I would buy some ID-90s or a Zed fare, you can always return it when you get back if you don't use it. Which airline are you using by the way?

Ditto that. I got stuck in Tokyo last month because the United agents were sure that only UA pilots could jumpseat, even in the cabin.

I had a friend tell me he didnt think it was possible cause he tried AA to CCS and they said it's not allowed internationally. Thanks! |
You are always welcome on NK, just call and list prior to going. The number is on their webpage here.

I just went to SJD a couple months ago. I flew to LAX first, then used ZED fares both ways, because Mexicana didn't know that I could j/s. THey actually don't even have forms at the counter, and the captain was no help either. I took AA back to LAX, and they were accomidating, but they couldn't get my picture to pop up on the CASS screen (even though it worked in the states as soon as I got to LAX), so I used another ZED there. Overall though it only cost $170 for round trip LAX-SJD-LAX and it was nice to not be stressed about being stuck there. AS has a different type of fare (instead of ZED) that you need to purchase through your company Non-rev number. One thing about SJD is that the terminals are far apart, I can't remember which airlines are at each terminal, but you have to take a cab between them. And you will not be able to go to the gate, everything will be handled at the ticket counter, so be prepared to explain everything to them.

It depends on your airlines agreements. Here at 9E we can't jumpseat internationally on AA but we can on DL and UA. We also have jumpseat agreements with Mexicana and Aero Mexico. (riding in the back of course) so just check with your jumpseat coordinator, you might have some kind of agreement with a mexican airline that can get you there direct.
