Is EK doing any advertisements for their LA and SF flights to Dubai? I've been looking around the local networks and CNN/Fox haven't seen anything yet. I doubt many even know where Dubai is.

Bigger seperation should fix all that. You'll know you're behind it due to the "super" callsign instead of "heavy". Also, visual approaches behind it are prohibited.

The A380 is flying for the regionals now? Wow, I thought it was bad when the 747 popped up here.

Past V1 08-04-2008 04:15 AM

So what!!!! I mean really why is this on the regional forum?!?! And I would be careful following an A380 in your Diamond Twinstar

BHopper88 08-04-2008 05:08 AM

Lets see just thought for those that fly into SFO and LAX for our jobs, that this would be a cool thing to see. JEEZ V1, have a bad overnight or something?

TristarJS30 08-04-2008 05:17 AM

Heaven forbid pilots still enjoy airplanes. It's ok to be a nerd every once and awhile...

Past V1 08-04-2008 05:46 AM

I love planes just as much as the next pilot...but really put this thread in hanger talk or maybe the major section...or wait there is a foreign section also that might work...by the way when the 380 flew into msp I was all over it

mccube5 08-04-2008 07:25 AM

I will agree with Past V1, the regionals section is not the place for this discussion. There was another thread about it going into JFK last week, could even tack this one onto that.

I was an airplane nerd today.

I drive by Frankfurt International on my way to and from my little army airfield and in the morning was overflown by a Lufthansa A300. Great timing, very cool. Then on my way home I was overflown by a FedEx A300 and a second Lufthansa A300 (SFO formation approach style).

I'll be all over Frankfurt when the A380 comes in again.

Oh, and y'all are right, this needs to be moved to Hangar Talk. Where is a mod when you need one?

CRJDriver 08-04-2008 01:34 PM

I saw it in JFK yesterday. That's one huge b*tch! :D

meeko031 08-05-2008 09:42 AM

Unfortunately for airbus again, the media here in L.A. today focused more on the emergency landing by AA instead of the publicity flight

A3xx

Didn't get to see it land in LAX today, but it was sitting there when we departed 25R. It's on the south side of 25L towards the west end.

I snapped a few shots!

+1 nerd.

OO.

I think this is a good heads up for everyone who flies into those airports. I wouldn't have known what a "Super" was unless I read it here. Everyone needs to relax, Thanks for posting.

Or Canadair Mainline, uh, I mean, Regional Jet, or Brasilia. Or 737. Or A320, or 757, or... :)

AirTahoe 08-05-2008 09:49 PM

I saw it take off out of SFO on the 4th. Man that thing is HUGE!! It was slow and low over the fog layer. I surely hope they were climbing out low on purpose. Otherwise, it has a small climb gradient.

BHopper88 08-06-2008 11:09 AM

have to say the SFO controllers were nice the first day when it came in. ATC asked us if we wanted to wait for the A380 to arrive and let us wait on 1L when it was coming in on approach behind a UAL 747. Then after arriving from an overnight into SFO, got a treat once at the gate, seeing it leave heading to LAX. Then after a SFO-MRY-LAX trip, got in just before it left, plus got to see that AA 757 with all its doors open with all those fire trucks around it. But as "aviation nerd" from time to time, its pretty cool to see something new and different. There was a handful of Skywest pilots and rampers with cameras on the end of the ramp taking pics and watching as the A380 was leaving LAX. Was a fun event to the normal day and weeks of flying into the hubs.
