Commuters & Parking

Just wanted to see what the rest of the industry looks like in terms of company paid/provided parking for commuter pilots, and for pilot's who park in base.

Does your company pay for parking at your home airport when commuting into work? all of it, or just a percentage?

I work for ASA, they only pay for parking at your domicile. The only airline that I know of that pay's for your parking at your airport that you commute from is Delta

Wrongo Bongo. Republic pays the amount up to what they would pay at your base airport.

It is tax deductable.

TSA reimburses you for up to the amount you would pay at your base. (But you have to submit it every three months)

As for PSA, the company is required by the CBA to pay for parking in domicile only, and there is no option for any substitution, whether it's cheaper or not. They don't even seem to allow you to use a different domicile in the case of someone who commutes from one domicile to the other.

I'm not 100% sure about the other bases but here in IAH CAL has a huge employee parking lot for CAL, XJT, CHQ and maybe even Colgan employees. When I started I was just issued a parking pass that you swipe to get in the lot and have never paid a dime for parking. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the same system is in place in CLE and EWR for CAL and affiliated employees.

The OP is speaking purely for commuters getting parking in another City, not one's domicile.

flynavyj 08-14-2008 09:15 PM

actually i believe he asked for both.

Many commuters also keep airport cars in their domicile, as such, my company still pays for my domicile parking, and I opt to park in a hotel in the city i live. The hotel parking is actually cheaper by 5 bux a month than parking at the airport employee lot in my home city.

Hmmm...you are correct! I'll quit posting so late. I promise...LoL
