Numbers finally out at XJT - 314 Active FO furloughs and 137 Active CA downgrades

Final numbers out at XJT are: 314 Active FO furloughs and 137 Active CA downgrades. Effective October 1st.

Guess the one good news is 81 ERJ-135 CA's will now be paid at ERJ-145 rates.

Personally I'm going to take this time and enjoy my old job and live at home. If you see any other XJT guys out there on the street, throw them your support. Good luck to all.

On Autopilot 08-18-2008 12:38 PM

Well, at least it wasn't as bad as first reported.

RU4692 08-18-2008 12:40 PM

Sorry to hear that.... good luck guys.

Yeah, I got the F-bomb (I'm a U45XX so it wasn't a surprise), and I see it as a good thing. Commuting to short call reserve for 11 months straight has worn on me a bit, so I'm taking this time to go find a job that pays more and has me home every night.

flyguy81 08-18-2008 01:30 PM

that sucks. i have a bunch of buddies over there. for those of us who don't have access, what seniority date did the furloughs/downgrades go to?

I'd have to look for the CA numbers but the most junior FO is now 4/16/07 DOH.

Yeah, thanks to the MEC and management, many furloughs and downgrades were averted.

Most junior CA is now a March 05 hire.

JSchraub 08-18-2008 02:05 PM

Good luck to you all

Windsor 08-18-2008 04:21 PM

Sorry to hear it guys. Best of luck to all of you. I hope things will turn around quickly for you.

Bond 08-18-2008 04:26 PM

Better than the 700 insult that was suggested a few months ago. I feel bad for my friends that are getting furloughed, but 314 is even better than the number the company originally gave us. Kudos to ALPA for mitigating a good number of them.

Same here. Hopefully, this bad time will be over sooner rather than later.

ExperimentalAB 08-18-2008 11:17 PM

Sorry to hear it...are they offering job-sharing at all?? Whats the DOH for most senior FO?

Yes, they offered job sharing, company offered leaves of absence, early retirements, and personal leaves.

haha, very true... and that's exactly what I plan on doing to. I hear the surf callin' my name as well. I'll have to try and make it back to the Cities before October, otherwise I may have to hit you up for a buddy pass back to MSP come past October, if they even give you those there. NWA is charging a ton for that flight to Minni now. And what's up with the ice on the lakes thing? I didn't even know that exists.

Many F/O's I have spoken with in the past 12-24 hrs are feeling relieved. Commuting, and the 1st yr pay, as well as being on reserve for the past year has really worn them out, and this gives them an opportunity to not only re-evaluate the airline gig, but will allow them to pursue something else and still have a number here when the time comes.

On another forum I frequent (car one) I was chatting with a guy who wanted all there was to know about being an airline pilot and the salary and commitment it takes to get there. I explained it to him and he said he would never in a million years be able to make that kind of sacrifice for 20k a year and he likes his Home Depot gig making $35,000.00 a year.

The point of that story is at least you can breathe a sigh of relief and make as much, an easily more money being at home spending time with the family. I dont know if that makes it any better but it is a positive in this mess.

We (MEC) tried everything we could to mitigate furloughs the company initially said 427, then a few days ago bumped the number to 528......... I am going from 95 in EWR to 145, so the days off weekends off and Daytrips are gone but thats ok with me, I consider myself fortunate.

Anyway just figured I would give my .02 worth ;)

PS To top it off, myself and my crew were Junior manned last night into an un-scheduled overnight because they had no crews..............what a joke

All ya gotta do is read the first page of the thread, or just look at IP's response.

If you stayed at XJT, where would you have been?

Add "you" before the word "have" and attach "en" to "be."

Of course, no disrespect was intended towards your baby.

I was just thinking of a previous time where I busted your cajones in the same way in a thread a while back.
