I am more excited about negotiations starting tomorrow. Besides any folks with the seniority to upgrade will undoubtedly have the time seeing that I can't hold CA and I bid rather senior in MEM. It looks like about 3 years will hold it currently.

same here higney. i am excited about tomorrow. something is in the works. we have started hiring check airmen again. new hire classes are starting up, interviews are about to resume, and the last 2 vacancies were within 2 weeks of eachother, and had over 60 pilots being in atl by jan 1. lets hope at the end of the week our guys bring home a ta worth signing.

uh oh now everyone that upgraded with 2000 tt is going to be downgraded to FO and have to pass upgrade again when they hit 2500 tt :D

I'm not getting excited for anything... especially the negotiations. Every time they meet everyone says "This is it!" Sure, stuff is probably in the works... like the last hundred or so sessions... followed up by a "No progress was made" email. yay!

I'll be happy when it's 'pen and inked', but not excited. Just glad the whole debacle is finally over with for another few years.

Well, from a historical standpoint this is the first time negotiations have taken place in DC with a member of the NMB present, and there is an election and a huge merger coming up...some say we'll have to wait for a new administration/NMB, but I disagree--I think that just the prospect of a new NMB/Pres that's more labor-friendly will make the company more likely to sign off on something now--b/c the company's leverage will start to drain from election day until the appointment of a new NMB next Spring as the possibility of being released goes up and up.

And I'm not just talking about Obama/McCain....just the prospect of a new NMB--McCain or Obama appointed, is good...I don't care whether someone's a repub or dem, there is always house-cleaning from one admin to the next, and whoever the new NMB is would (hopefully) think it was ridiculous how long this has lasted, and clean some house and release us to get this done once and for all....although I have my personal opinion on which NMB would be more likely to let that happen!

Looks to me like at least 3.5-4years...If I wasn't a CA now, I couldn't hold the last bid...been here over 3yrs
