saddly that'll never happen, there's always a fool (including myself) willing to come to 9E.

To be more useful, I don't think newhires will be going to ATL. It went junior at some point, but after the payrates were passed by the mediator, it went senior again, and now more than ever with no new contract in sight, a lot of senior people will bid for ATL since the pay difference is big, specially on the FO side. Pool numbers, I have no idea, this month we had 1400 hrs cutback on the NW side. I think is going to be very slow, unless the DL operation really kicks in. (I doubt)

Hope it helps.

no, atlanta is still very junior on the fo side. most guys, even with the pay increase dont like the idea of being seat locked for 2 years. i know they can get out of it by upgrading to a 200 or the 900, but upgrades are going senior now, so the prospect of getting stuck in atl when you dont want to be is keeping lots of guys away. the last vacancy had people on the bottom of the list going to atlanta. they have 4 interview sessions scheduled for next month, and the people in the pool right now are all waiting on better places to call. one of the ladies in hr said the majority of the people in the pool are fulroughed pilots from larger airlines. most of them thought there was an early upgrade waiting here, but once they realized that ship had sailed, most bailed out.

With the six more -900s coming online starting in January, at 7 crews per plane, there'll be a fair amount of training/hiring/pool draining to be done this fall.

You know what is ridiculous, is that the company policy is that there needs to be 40 reserves scheduled before you can drop a trip. I dont think they even schedule half of that; and yet we arent hiring more people into all of our bases.

How can they do that, isnt that an obligation if they make a policy like that.

According to the company 250 currently in the pool.

They have 2 pools though; hiring and to interview... That could be where that number is coming from...

last Vacy went pretty senior as far as FO's... I also know there are a bunch of people waiting for ATL.
I think the pool is going to empty pretty slow... with 0 capt spots open in MSP/DTW/MEM its gonna be slow going for a while.

The latest vacancy wasn't TOO senior surprisingly. I would have been close to holding ATL CA (the last guy was only 1 class in front of me) and I would have been #2 FO in the bid which would have me in the top 15 or so from when I looked at the last monthly bid. Thats not bad seeing I am still a bit shy of 50% up the overall list. I am still looking for MEM CA though for now.... If there are no MEM openings by the beginning of next year the wifey and I are considering buying in ATL and I will just fly the "9". Mainly to get out of Memphis! I have to watch what I say because I don't have much of a "cloak" but IF I was in the pool (hired or interview) I would try to look at ALL available options before coming here. We are still on wages and a contract signed 10 years ago and the light that was shining at the end of the tunnel just got turned off since the power company cut the juice. Just know what you are getting into.

"Quick" upgrades (as in 2 years or less) are not happening and most likely won't happen any time soon. As I said earlier there are very few CA spots and there have been NONE in the -200 bases (where you will have a long time on rsv and will eventually get lines). ATL is a horror story every time I ask about it unless you are senior in your seat. Airport reserve and little flying with a crew room the size of a shoebox... I feel like a "number" now more than ever and the schedulers, and mgmt folks are not even showing respect towards the pilot group or the current contract. Last month I actually had a scheduler call and tell me I would be fired if I didn't take this assignment after I was bought off- the assignment was illegal per the contract so I did refuse it but there was a good bit of "fear tactic" they were trying to use that I am sure many new FO's would have just done the assignment. Frustrating!
