The furloughed pilots are the most junior across the 3 certificates and would have been those displaced regardless if the company was just trying to shuffle pilots around the system.

If it is just a rumor then why would Indystar.com post this article?......



Republic Airways Holdings recalling 100-plus pilots, flight attendants

Republic Airways Holdings will recall more than 100 pilots and flight attendants next month to staff a dozen airliners.

The Indianapolis carrier, which idled 500 workers in July, said Wednesday that the recalled crews will operate on Midwest Airlines routes.

Republic employs 4,600 people and flies 230 regional jets on short and medium-length routes outsourced by major carriers.

Republic will assign 76-seat Embraer 170 airliners to fly under the brand name Midwest Connect. Republic had flown the 12 planes for Frontier Airlines routes, a Denver carrier that filed in April for bankruptcy reorganization.

Republic spokesman Warren Wilkinson said about 100 crew members will be recalled and another 100 pilots and flight attendants could be reassigned to the Midwest routes from other lines served by Republic.

Milwaukee-based Midwest can choose to staff the jets with its own crews in 2010.

Under the deal, Republic also will loan Midwest $15 million for one year as part of a voluntary restructuring by the Milwaukee line. Midwest is bringing in a total of $60 million in new financing.

Also on Wednesday, Republic said it boarded 1.7 million passengers in August, a 12.6 percent increase from a year ago. Its stock closed Wednesday at $9.61 a share, up 50 cents.

I'm just trying to be optimistic with the possibility of being called back to training :)

Being one of the furloughees, I've yet to recieve ANY "recall." I'd like nothing better than to get back to work. I'll believe it when I get it in the mail.

More than likely, someone in the company told that reporter that the MEH deal "saved" 100 pilots from furlough, which is true. But it did not bring people back off the street.

The Midwest thing kept some CA's from being downgraded and reduced about 20-30 FO's from being furloughed in the first place. Remember it was supposed to be about 178 or so furloughs and it was reduced to 140+. This is old news the media is now catching up and re-labeling as a "recall".

No, I don't support the Midwest thing but I'm just a peon stating the facts as I see them, with no vote in the matter....

that article has about 100000 things wrong and incorrect in it. i wouldnt call it "news reporting" just space-filling words thrown together by someone it didnt affect.

That's the second time the Indy Star has published the same story. They ran it just before the official Furlough date too. A few things about it that are wrong:

FAs were never furloughed. They just used attrition.
Mechanics weren't furloughed. The company actually is hiring them for PIT right now.

There were never 500 total employees. The original pilot number was 177. It's somewhere around 150 now.

I'll believe the Indy star when I get my certified letter saying come back to work.

well from what I herd, one of the guys at my pad who were furloughed says when he talked to S5 chief pilot, he said that they will recall all pilots around oct. 1st, I was there when he was talking to him. It is getting close to that day, though, and I havn't herd anything yet about it, may be there will be another "White Horse" commin at the last minute.
