TSA Upgrade time
What's the upgrade time like at TSA? I see that the Jetstream is around 2 years...
How about the ERJ? What A/C do they hire into primarily? |
they're getting rid of the jetstreams. no idea on upgrades
|
Just recently interviewed there and was told that you are looking at 2.5 years on the jet. They also require 4000TT but will match 800 hours that you have flown with them so it only works out to 3200TT. As was previously stated, the prop will be gone by the end of June I believe so they are only hiring into the 145.

TSA Training
Just received a class date for TSA. Anyone recently finished there? If so, appreciate feedback on how the training was, what to watch out for, where to stay and do you know of any forums where you can get info on how the pilots like working there? I can't find any info, and what little I do here, is not positive. Any idea why? I know all about the Go Jet issue. I am wondering if the scheduling is bad, or what.

How long did you wait between your interview and receiving a class date? I just received the letter saying I was in the hiring pool last Wednesday. They said during the interview that we were probably looking at June, but I hope to get in before that.

Is it possible / easy to commute at TSA from PIT. I would think I could just jump on USAir and fly to my domicile...
|
I wouldn't think it would be too hard but I have a friend who currently works there and he says that they are getting phased out of the USAirways system. There's always the jumpseat though.
|
I waited 2 mths for a class date. I got barely 2 weeks notice, and am hoping to delay my training date to get things squared away with my other jobs.....
|
Yea, they said that they were going to slow down on new-hire training because of all the J41 guys that are going to have to be trained fairly soon. Thanks for the info.

First off, I would tell all of you to stay away from this place unless it is your absolute last chance to an airline job; except for GOJ3T$.
Quality of life is as bad being a 6th yr CA as a 1st yr FO; excluding pay. All of this hiring is based on speculation of getting another code-share and more ac. The code-share being COEX flying is not a good thing for our industry considering I make $3.50 less an hour than XJ 6 yr CA. If this doesn't go thru all of these new hire will be out on their A$$es in the street w/o even a thought. Currently in contract negotiations and so far seems (no facts) all is going OK(only on small issues). This is because they do not want anything to hurt TSA chances at more flying. Should we not get any, things could get real ugly real fast!!!! ALPA national just gave us a slap in the face during the whole GOJ3T$ thing, so don't think that ALPA will protect you. Good luck and good night!! PtP I would do a thurough search on this thread and Flight info for all of the TSA bs. |
I was at Flight Safety in STL and TransStates was doing some training there also. I honestly felt so sorry for those guys. woefully underpaid, mistreated by management etc. Several of the guys said they were eligible for food stamps due to the low wages. Please. NO JOB is worth that kind of abuse!

Ok, I know the pay is low, although I don't see it being any lower than other regionals, to start. What I want to know are the specific things the company/management do that makes this such a bad place to work. I need details!!! Is it rescheduling, minimum layovers, flying fatigued, what is it other than pay that makes TSA so bad?

Good questions 'Git' - my only knowledge is talking with and observing the TSA pilots durning breaks over a 6 week period. They were a dedicated group, maybe too dedicated to a company that doesn't value them not only as pilots but as members of the human race. I believe the morale problem I saw had to do with the whole TSA experience these fellas suffer under. Maybe things are better there, but the management is the same which means the problems are still there. It is like asking, "Other than that Mrs. Kennedy, how did you like your trip to Dallas?"

Most people I talk to dont hate it there. Its just that its another regional. And you gotta accept regionals are all kinda crappy to work for. |
