TSA Furloughing again...

Friend of mine just got the call. Furloughed as of Nov. 30th.

Positive_Rate 09-29-2008 12:18 PM

What was his DOH?

TBucket 09-29-2008 12:23 PM

10/07 I think....

flynavyj 09-29-2008 12:29 PM

Sorry to hear, i know there are another 12 downgrades on Oct. 23, so i'd assume another 24 furloughs, but the odd dates make this a little strange.

jaded 09-29-2008 12:56 PM

so much for my recall... do you know how many furloughs?

250 or point 65 09-29-2008 05:47 PM

Alright, I gave Doug-e-fresh a call today and asked what was going on after i saw this post. He said that 10 have been called and been notified of a furlough on Nov 31st. However, he also said that he has 3 pages of displacements which he was going to make public today, but was told to wait until wed because it seemed they were unsure of resignation numbers etc. Maybe a Chicago base will be the big news?

Well that day has never and will NEVER exist......so for those that got that letter, maybe it was a hoax......or maybe a TYPO!

BUSTED!!

I just got owned by the forum TSA (Typo Searching Administration).

Go print yourself out a badge while I delete my post which is evidently uninformative due to a typo.

LOL pwned. :D

wmupilot69 09-30-2008 05:51 AM

I saw something posted today dated 10/1

It has 5 captains downgraded, and some furloughs. Also had about 20 people listed as IAD based.

Maybe this helps

CaptainCarl 09-30-2008 06:23 AM

So... 10 guys are being furloughed on November 30th? Bummer.

Also with the Q&A response confirming the loss of 17 aircraft (total) by May 2009, looks like the furloughs will go far past my DOH. Sucks.

Oh well, Plan B is already in the works :D

Brown Boeing FO 09-30-2008 10:09 AM

Sorry to hear that my former co-workers are getting f'd. Good luck, you'll hopefully land some place better and not come back.

What will the DOH eventually reach with the 17 lost aircraft (with attrition levels constant)?

When I was still there and looking at all the numbers I thought it would get into our class

TBucket 09-30-2008 01:22 PM

I think pretty much if you're not holding a captain line, you're F'd.. so to speak...

flyinaway411 09-30-2008 01:38 PM

i was in the first round of downgrades back in june. assuming i'm figuring correctly, factoring attrition and after the loss of all 17 airplanes (which wont be final til may 09), i will be somewhere around 30 from the bottom and probably displaced from stl to iad or ord. i'm 12/06 hire. that should give you some perspective.

flynavyj 09-30-2008 02:06 PM

yeh, i'd figure something like 330 pilots give or take a few on property. Not knowing what the attrition rate is right now makes it difficult to really pinpoint, but i'd bet on a couple people a month at most (not a lot of places to go) I do know of 4 or so who are headed over seas, sure at the lower end of the spectrum some are just getting out. I've been looking, but i'm in the mid 200's, so i should be around 70 from the bottom, ish....amd I'm a Sept. 06 new hire, former CA.

250 or point 65 09-30-2008 02:26 PM

are the the guys going overseas FO's or guys with ATP's?

flynavyj 09-30-2008 07:38 PM

former CA's, the ones i was speaking of, are headed to japan for E170/175's.

CaptainCarl 10-01-2008 04:20 AM

I was 403 in September and 382 now in October. I think I was somewhere around 415 in August. Looks like 10 to 15 guys a month bailing out. I'll take the hours I can get now and will keep holding on 'til she sinks.

wmupilot69 10-01-2008 06:06 AM

At least we're not short of FOs. At the town hall, it was said we had 40% coverage, and scheduling was being lazy.

I believe that, really.

250 or point 65 10-01-2008 06:08 AM

wait a sec, who said that? i want that in writing to fax to scheduling every time i get denied for coverage!

TBucket 10-01-2008 08:00 AM

Yeah, that's not what the scheduling tools told me this morning. According to them we still have "not enough coverage"...

Exactly, according to them... Those idiots are always in crisis mode.

CaptainCarl 10-01-2008 11:39 AM

CREW SCHEDULING -
They hate us all.
It doesn't pay to think at $8.00/hour.
High school diploma optional.
Kindergarten can be described as the best three years of their lives.

But seriously, just kidding.

How many guys we got left in the company now? Anyone?

flyvne1971 10-01-2008 06:47 PM

What flying reduction is the reson for the furloughs? AA, UAL, or USA?

That was Mike White. He was standing where we normally put our bags in the crew room. Personally I believe scheduling.

flyinaway411 10-02-2008 08:23 AM

i don't believe anything that comes out of anyone's mouth.

flynavyj 10-02-2008 08:29 AM

yeh, but i'd take scheduling (at least a couple of them) over the memo writer any day of the week. The guy might as well be a used car sales men, trying to get me to trade my BMW for a Geo...."but having half the cylinders is a big plus, chicks dig three bangers!"

:D Where does it have to come out of for you to believe it? ;):p
