Can I Commute from...

I've been asking about commuting from PIT in a couple different threads. Instead of continuing down that road, I started a new one dedicated to just that topic. Informed advice would be greatly appreciated.

Can I commute from KPIT with:

1. AWAC
2. PSA
3. Piedmont
4. Mesa
5. TSA

Once again, thanks for the INFORMED input guys!

I am sure you heard this before but I believe most of these airlines are codeshared with US Airways which IMO has the best route system for commuting in the east. If I had to commute I think I would go with US airways being where I am in the Northeast.

You can commute from almost anywhere to almost anywhere in the US - the catch is how much time you want to plan doing it.

Guys commute from the west coast (seattle, san diego, etc.) to PHL, DCA, and ORF at AWAC. That would suck, but it can be done.

That being said, a commute from PIT to PHL would be easy with AWAC. Right now, the most junior PHL line holder has been there 8+ months, so you will be on reserve there.

If you can't get PHL right away, commuting to DCA or ORF wouldn't be too bad, either, there are direct flights there.

The key to enjoyable commuting is multiple daily non-stops, at least two on your own company or your major affiliate. If there is non-stop SWA, that is good too, they are very accomodating.

If you have to make connections, life will not be good in most cases.

If you have the non-stops, even coast-to-coast isn't too bad.

One thing to keep in mind is that PIT was a base for along time for many US Air folks who are now forced to commute to other bases. Often times flights will have 60 plus non-revs listed for flights between say PIT and CLT.
