Mesa Air Group Names New COO

Yesterday JO anoounced MAG had a new COO, His name is Paul Foley. Formerly of Mesaba. Does anyone have any info on this guy?

rickair7777 10-02-2008 07:41 AM

Ruh Roh.

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse...

Wasn't he the BK MC at MAIR?

ShakenBake 10-02-2008 08:31 AM

Can't wait for the Mesaba guys to chime in...Their stories about that guy are amazing. To make a long story short...They didn't like him very much.

Avroman 10-02-2008 09:43 AM

Hmmm, King of all Arse Bags? What did he do as head of "Mair Holdings"? Destroy Big Sky and almost destroy Mesaba....... He belongs with Lorenzo and Ichan, burning beyond hell.

H46Bubba 10-02-2008 10:31 AM

Are you kidding? Mesa going anywhere? Delta is setting Freedom up for failer. i heard it from a Freedom Cap. himself. I used to work for Freedom/Mesa and he told me that if i get furloughed i could come back to Freedom and be a street CAP. but since I could have upgraded 8 months ago at mesa it would be a slap in the face to come back to that $h@& hole i will be go ahead and be furloughed and enjoy my time off unlike those who have been furloughed at Mesa and take their given spot at this company/

I don't know a whole lot about either of those two guys, but from everything I have read ... God help everyone there. Good luck and Godspeed to all the pilots! :(

I wonder if the MAIR letter is now valid again?

Spooled 10-03-2008 01:58 PM

What does Paul Foley do?

mccube5 10-03-2008 08:12 PM

Paul Foley joins Mesa

Mesa Air Group Appoints New Chief Operating Officer: Financial News - Yahoo! Finance

Dont know how significant this really is, but in my days at Big Sky this name rings a bell(and not in a positive light). He was the CEO at MAIR and Mesaba.

Anyone have any dirt on the guy?

bored 10-03-2008 08:19 PM

Have any dirt? He IS dirt. I guess Mesa needs the best talent to ruin airlines. They sure got their man. By the way... the answer to the famous question becomes more clear as the years go by. What does Paul Foley do?

This move may finally bring an end to mesa's long history. I am sure many on here will be happy about this, I for one pitty the ones that work there now. I unfortunetely operate under a contract that was created for the most part due to this scumbug. I think most people at mesaba are still searching for the answer to the question that Bored posted.

bored 10-04-2008 07:16 AM

But wait... MAIR, BigSky anf Foley had nothing to do with Mesaba. (mantra during bankruptcy and the long hard fought contract negotiations that ended in 04). How could he have been partially responsible? (sarcasm alert).

JoeyMeatballs 10-04-2008 07:36 AM

I believe I used to see stickers that read "What does Paul Foley do?"...........can't be a good thing

IHateMgmt 10-04-2008 07:49 AM

Still have one on my flightcase... and no, it's not a good thing.

The Duke 10-04-2008 08:50 AM

So in other words, between J.O. and Foley, this could get pretty interesting. When I saw the name MAIR I got sort of nervous.

Somehow, I think Foley was brought in to crush MAG ALPA. JO probably isn't too happy with the turn down of the TA, so he brings in somebody that can hold the pilots over a barrel. That same style showdown is what unfolded at XJ during Chap. 11. While I wish the best for the MAG pilots, it looks like JO is turning up the heat on a potentialy volital contract negotation, if one could call it that. MAG pilots beware, it might be good to stock up on Preparation PH in case Foley plans to do another XJ here.

sigep_nm 10-05-2008 08:26 AM

Let Paul know how happy you are that he has come to destroy mesa. LinkedIn: Link Error

I don't think JO would need to bring in outside talent to bone pilots

There are rampant rumors of mass firings at MAG HQ late last week. Foley might have been brought in to clean house...JO would consider him to be philosophically compatible with MAG and JO.

Perhaps JO is trying to deflect blame from himself by rolling subordinate heads.

There is also some suspicion in the rank the file that the man himself is out, and Foley is HIS replacement...I'm honestly not sure which would be worse

Paul foley has to be worse. Mesaba was and is a cash machine, and foley almost destroyed it. Mesa i believe is more fragile, he should have no problem taking them down.

Those rumors are true. Some were pilots with titles (certificate chief pilot), others were "brass" type people.

No need to be scared of Foley. He didn't do much to intimidate us while he was head of MAIR... he really didn't do much at all besides soak up a fat paycheck every month. Hence, the sticker. The only reason to be scared of Foley would be his history of killing airlines by quietly shifting any cash the airline might have laying around to his personal account.

Yeah, I do know whats going on...I work under him for 8 years. Its the end! Paul Foley isn't a positive addition to MAG. Good luck to the pilots.
