ExpressJet
Hi every one I have a few questions about Express jet airlines. I have an upcoming interview for an internship and I would like to have a little more info before going in.
1. Are they a good company to work for? 2. What are their upgrade times? Any thoughts would be great Thanks |
1. Yes!
2. That's the 20-million dollar question.... CAL has notified XJT that they will be removing 69 CAL-owned ERJ from XJT and re-assigning them to a cheaper regional (exactly who has not been determined yet). This is slated to begin in Jan 2007. XJT has the right to keep the jets if they can find gainful employment for them (which is entirely possible), or maybe XJT and CAL will work something out...:) Worst case, they lose a large percentage of their fleet in 9 months, and furlough a whole bunch of folks. No way to know for sure...do you feel lucky? |
Great company to work for. That's why CAL isn't happy with them.
|
One thing I wonder is what stopes CAL from putting an rj company into the connections flying?

I just got hired at XJT. So far I have nothing to complain about. I am a bit worried about the 69 jets, but after looking through some of the companies history, and talking to long time XJT pilots, I think that management here is really looking out for its employees. During you interview you can just be calm and be personable. Read the inteview gouges at whatever gouge site you find. Don't be intimidated by the Mexican approach plates they show you, just read em' before you answer. The training is top notch, the planes are the best maintained in the industry, and the destinations are numerous (150 comes to mind). That means you wont get bored flying the same route over and over. You get to go to Mexico, Canada, the Bahamas, and all over the US. XJT is by no means a "regional" airline...we go to more destinations domestically than Continental! Good luck on the interview!

More ????'s
What is the junior base for F.O's right now at XJT? Please don't tell me it's EWR!!!
|
what Ive heard it possible to get any of the three just depends on what they need. EWR would be considered junior but thats in terms of where you will move up from reserve to line the fastest.

. . . . . Ok, what he said. (but you dont want Cleveland!!!) |
Why not Cleveland?
Ohio seems like a nice place to live? Home's are cheap, and it seems like there on bigger lots? So, give me the dirt on XJT in Cleveland. If I were hired, I thought Cleveland would be a nice place to move my family to.
|
I dont know much about the area around CLE, but I do know that they are cutting back on the amount of flying they do out of there. Also, you will sit reserve for longer. Youd have to tlak to someone more experienced for the nitty gritty.

Line schedule question
I've heard a rumour that after you've done your time on reserve at Express Jet (no, not going to get into asking how long that is going to be!), that you're "line" is 7 days on, 7 days off.
Can anyone comment on the truth of this rumour? Thanks, marinepilot |
I havnt heard that one. The contract says that the longest "on" period is 6 days, then a minimum of 2 days off before your next duty period. So, I'd way nope. not true. They also guarantee 12 days off a month.

Can anyone comment on the truth of this rumour? Thanks, marinepilot Regs only allow for 6 days on in a row anyway, so I'd say not true. Unless they know something I don't know. |

Can anyone comment on the truth of this rumour? Thanks, marinepilot Um, no. More like 4 on 3 off as an average if your holdong between 12-14 days off a month. You can trade and manipulate (sometimes) to get a block of 6-7 days off at one end (or middle) of the month. |
