Any Advice?
 
Hey guys,

I need a suggestions on this one. I did not make it through the probationary period at an airline and they wanted me to resign; with a possibility of being rehired again after six months. However, after seeing how things operates in the industry, I am becoming more incline to pursue something else for the time being.

I graduated with two degrees: Aviation management being one of them. Right now, I am interested in finding a job at an airport in management position. Does anyone have an insight info with regard to airport employments?

what airport are you looking into. are you looking for corporate gigs or 121 gigs. if you are by a hub you might be able to land something. i left 121 for corporate operations and it is probably one of the best moves but one man trash is another man treasure. also, look into county aviation jobs. but keep in mind you may have to start from the entry level position as it is just as hard for ground ops as it is for you guys. again, corporate may be the way to go.

i've also noticed that netjets were hiring for alot of managerial positions but in cmh if you wanna move.

Well, I have a total of 1700 hrs with 500 jet. I live in Indiana, however I will be willing to move if there is a gig that can help me for the time being.

to give you a heads up on the outside of the aircraft, i got laid off from my job. since i don't have the competitive experience to fly airlines, i decided to work the ramp in corporate and network on building time. also, i know the government is cutting back and some friends who worked at the county is also waiting impatiently for their unemployment check. i would get in anyhow i can if i was you and move up from there. also, have you considered flying in a different country? well the fact that you are willing to move may be good as well. try part 135 or part 91 ops. good luck and hang in there. things will get better soon.

you can try looking at this first....
American Association of Airport Executives - there is a job search there. As well as a lot of information. You can look at getting a "aaae" membership or get different types of certifications...

I know a few airports in Denver area looking for low entrance level positions... more of a mx position for the airport - plowing snow ect. But there is always the possibility of moving up

TSA is always looking for a few good men. Benefits include: appearance standards are minimal, you get to wear a badge, boorish behavior is a must, operation of high resolution equipment is not necessarily a limiting factor, liberal height/weight standards apply, english as a second language is okay(ebonics preferred), and since it is a government agency-LIFETIME employment is guaranteed if you so desire.

You have more options then just working for an airport. I have worked for aviation consulting and planning firms as well as engineering firms with my aviation management degree. I am located in Michigan and there are jobs available here. If you're interested I can give you more details and advice on the job search. My advice is to look wide and far as the degree opens many doors to great employment opportunities. Best of luck!

No answer from you in 2.5 days but I wouldn't count on being rehired from being asked to leave. Sounds like they're blowing sunshine up your ass to me(or you're in denial). Have a good plan B. **** happens learn from it, move up and on!

I don't know what you are up to. What do you mean by "being in denial"? Before you crucify me I will say this, I have come a long way and I am not going to be discouraged because of what people think or say about me. I have been busy working another job. On top of that, I once thought that this was a forum where folks could get help from others (suggestions). I will not waste anymore of my time answering to your rants.

I am open to new ideas and I will not limit myself to one thing or another. Would you send me a private message so we could get in touch? I don't know if I say this before, but I live in Indiana. Once again, thank you for your help

Well, if you're gonna come on here and ask for advice give the whole story. One guy asked you already and you didn't reply. I wasn't being negative, but since you didn't elaborate I'll assume you were asked to leave due to poor performance. I said if you were 'let go' and it was for that reason, you most likely will not be rehired or why would they ask you to resign in the first place. My message to move on was meant to be positive. You know live and learn, don't dwell, etc. Thicker skin will benefit you greatly over the course of an airline career.
