Colgan Hiring?

Checked Colgan's website as well as APC and it does say they are hiring with 1000TT and 100 ME. Has anyone applied/interviewed recently?

Jamers 10-13-2008 08:15 PM

We may be hiring... I'm not too sure.

haha thanks!

Yes Colgan is hiring, and they are staying very strict to their 1000/100 which they weren't back at the beginning of the year. I had a buddy with 600/180 and they turned him down within hours after a senior captain walked his stuff in...

Ave8torC 10-14-2008 02:29 AM

Yes, my roommate just got hired on friday 10/10. He starts 11/2

grahamlax 10-15-2008 11:44 AM

Is Colgan hiring? Any chance of me getting hired in the near future? I have 660TT, 330ME, 350 Dual given, CFII, MEI. I'm getting really antsy to get out of the flight instructing world and in to the airlines, any suggestions?

Sit tight and enjoy it while it lasts, you're not missing out on anything right now!

usmc-sgt 10-15-2008 12:21 PM

No chance of you getting on with CJC with those hours in the near future. I talkeD to both of the recruiters last week and they have only been looking at the apps that have the mins met in the subject line of the email. With an internal rec they may look at the app and interview you but still chances now are in the slim to none range. Keep instructing you are just getting warmed up! Most of us did 1000+ dual given before moving on.

JetPipeOverht 10-15-2008 02:00 PM

You could have the Chief Pilot walk your stuff in these days, simple fact is without the mins you aren't going to get looked at with the experience level out on the streets right now..

jaxpilot 10-15-2008 02:26 PM

I interviewed 9/19 had a class date of 10/7. Got something better and cancelled. My quals were ATP 2750TT 790ME 140Jet plus jet type rating.

Colgan Hiring???

Does anyone have any news on Colgan hiring?

Riverside 11-24-2008 01:07 PM

did you go to their website?

ERAU08 11-24-2008 03:09 PM

Thats the problem,

I went to their website and it says they are hiring. Another source of mine says they are not. Im trying to get more info. from anyone that might know.

ugflyer 11-24-2008 04:21 PM

Well tell you what......Colgan is hiring with and ONLY with internal recommendations. Got this info from a line holder at Colgan. I also know someone that interviewed not too long ago with them. That's all I can give you for now. So get that resume, send it in and the play the "sit and wait" game!

ERAU08 11-24-2008 06:55 PM

Thanks for the update. I think I can pull off somewhat of an internal recommendation so that should not be a problem.

Got a call for an interview back in early Oct. I had a rec from a senior pilot with USA. I was negotiating a contract job so I waved off on the interview. Real dumb move since the negotiations are now going poorly. Called two weeks ago to try and get the interview back. They are not hiring now but will keep my resume.

OBTW HR asked if I was interested in direct entry CA due to my time.

Hope this helps.

:confused:NOT AGAIN!

Stepchild, this is not against you at all as I would take a street CA job if offered. It is just one of the hot buttons why we are pushing so hard for a union. I have around 100 numbers between me and upgrade give or take a few and of those 100 probably 50+ are eligible as far as the requirements are concerned.

N927EV 11-28-2008 09:31 PM

They seem to start hiring and the quickly stop again. It's hit and miss. I heard you need an internal rec (as mentioned before) along with the published mins.

Not taken that way and definitely NOT trying to push any buttons but relay info for consumption. I understand about the union drive and having people like me upset the apple cart. It was only a question and I don't know if it was a serious offer or exploratory if I thought I was applying for a direct CA slot. My cut is the latter, she may have been letting me know direct CA may not be available. Not clear in my first post, my apologies for stirring the pot.

It is OBE now as I have screwed it up royally and will probably wind up in another contract job anyway.

Good luck to all in their search.

Just curious of any news of CJC doing anymore hiring. I know that they did some a few months ago with those guys just getting out on line. How is attrition there? I imagine its just as slow as most other carriers. How much do they value previous 121 experience?

Fluboy340 12-04-2008 06:56 AM

Interviews in LGA on DEC 8th for the saab. If intrested Email [email protected].

I know we just hired two fairly large (about 20 each) new hire classes for the Saab. I honestly don't know how we're able to hire so many pilots right now with the Beech being phased out and those pilots having to come over to the Saab as well ... as far as I know we aren't getting any more of those Saabypoos. Sure, we have attrition right now like everyone, but we're not expanding ... unless I really missed something recently.

fjetter - As far as 121 experience goes ... well every airline values that without question. Colgan weighs heavily on that, internal recommendations, times, previous flying experience, attitude (although as long as you can fake it pretty well you can still get hired if you're an a$$), and personality. What are your times right now? You instructing?

jedinein 12-04-2008 12:13 PM

Colgan is not hiring right know per their HR folks.

My times are 750TT 130ME 77Turbine. I was in the 2nd to last comair class back in june, thus the relatively low times. I don't want to wait around for comair and look at a long furlough at a regional. Currently I was able to find a job flight instructing flying about 10hrs a week.

Three Green 12-04-2008 06:43 PM

Why is CJC hiring?

captain152 12-04-2008 07:11 PM

fjetter - Well you have good times, but your TT might kill ya. Hopefully with the 121 experience it will overshadow the <1000TT. Best of luck to you!

Three Green - I have no idea why we're hiring. The only reason we would be right now is because of attrition. We are not getting any new aircraft in the next few months. I just hope we don't hire to the point of overstaffing. But, of course, I think it would do the company a lot of good (sincerity there) to actually hire some guys to sit reserve instead of only hiring for the flying that needs to be done.

Yea those are my thoughts as well, like you said hopefully my proven success at 121 training will make me more hireable. I sent a new resume and cover letter in to HR we'll see how it goes. Worse case scenario, they don't call and thankfully I still have my CFI job (which I know is a blessing in these times)

BroncoBird 12-05-2008 08:05 AM

Well, here's the latest. I applied back in October, and a few weeks ago was offered a Dec. 8 interview at LGA. I had a couple internal rec's which apparently was the ticket to getting in this interview. Got a call from Karen this morning temporarily cancelling the interview because of the Jan. 12 class getting cancelled. She said she knows there will be classes coming, probably in February now. She said she'll call back and reschedule once she knows when the class will be exactly.

To be continued....

fjetter 12-05-2008 08:17 AM

Bronco....thanx for the update, my guess is the hiring was for attrition that ended up not happening as quickly as expected. Hopefully there is more hiring in the future.

BroncoBird 12-05-2008 08:47 AM

Here is the latest. I had a couple internal rec's, and was offered an interview for Dec. 8. Got a call from Karen today temporarily cancelling the interview because the Jan. 12 Saab class has been cancelled. She thinks there will be a class now in February possibly, and will call me back to reschedule the interview when she finds out for sure.

I talked to my friend at the company, and it sounds as if this all may have to do with eliminating liability in the company until the union situation is finalized. Also, more Q's are apparently on the horizon, and possibly will be switching the next class from Saab to Q.

captain152 12-05-2008 12:50 PM

That doesn't surprise me at all. We really aren't losing that many guys right now. No one can go anywhere except corporate or into another field of work completely.

Direct CA? Iv never heard of that?

fjetter 12-08-2008 03:17 PM

Got an email today from Good 'ol Chuck stating that they won't be hiring until March.:(

fjetter 12-08-2008 03:18 PM

...............

Cruise 12-08-2008 03:22 PM

Hahahhahah.....guess that means the rumor mill of 10 new Q's by early '09, LAX base isn't happening. Or maybe the 'no hiring' WAS the big announcement that was SUPPOSED to be happening last week, no wait, this week, no wait.......

Like I tell everyone regarding these ridiculous rumors......believe it when you see it. Until then, it's complete B.S.
