ASA another union

Any of you fellow ASAer's get wind of the ASA mechanics in the middle of a union campaign with the Teamsters? I got wind of a couple of days ago. I found this forum and figured it was a place to ask.

Haven't heard anything at all. Do share though. That seems interesting...

from the teamster's site.. ASA Mechanics & Related Newsletter Volume 1, Issue 1

"ASA Mechanics and Related Committee First Newsletter

Attached you will find volume 1, issue 1 of the ASA Mechanics and Related Committee Nuts and Bolts newsletter.

This newsletter talks about why we are forming a union with the Teamsters.

It also includes how a Teamsters contract has made improvements at other airlines.

There's lots more to read about in our newsletter, so check it out and pass it on to your co-workers.

Sincerely,

ASA Mechanics and Related Organizing Committee"

very interesting.... 4 of 6 messages on the main page at Teamsters Take Action are ASA related. Looks like a major effort.

Quite interesting... was waiting for a crew shuttle at a-tech and was approached and told that they organizing and are about 2 weeks away from voting teamsters in. Apparently they were keeping it all quite to keep management off their backs, looks like the last time they tried a few people were fired and things fizzled out. I saw their newsletter and it looks like all the outstations are on board and just waiting for the go from ATL.

I know he's former skywest, but after talking to him I also know he became a pilot instead of continuing on with his A&P work. Maybe deep down he might be sympathetic.

I'd be surprised if it passes. The ASA wrenches have tried several times, and it always fizzles out due to lack of interest. Same problem with the Delta mechanics. They don't have that bad of a deal without the union, and the company constantly shows them the battles they have with the "contract employees" as a detractor.

I know what you're talking about. There are a few mechanics that I can actually call friends and I've confirmed with a couple that is no light matter for them this time around.

Are you saying the big D mechanics don't have a bad deal or ASA?
