Asa Pc
Hey guys,
I have a PC coming up, its my first one, so if you guys have any advice, pointers, or know of things to study that I would overlook I would appreciate any input. Take care out there. |
Memory Items, Limitations, Profiles, Don't get too wrapped up in it and just try to relax and don't answer anything that's not asked of you.
|
Just had one the other week. Day 1 is review. They will know if you studied. They understand it has been a year since you've seen some of the stuff, so they're not going to try to make you look bad, just make sure you're proficient. Relax

What about a LOFT? Mine is next month and I haven't flow since 9/1
|
You're given an impossible situation and you need to not get dead. Don't look too stupid and you'll be fine. I'm there next month as well

My LOFT last month was a simple trip to KTYS with deteriorating weather and generator that fried at an inopportune time. Fly the plane, deal with the problem and remember, its a learning experience, so take advantage! I think I hadn't flown in 6 weeks prior...don't sweat it!

ASA makes computers?

You'll be flying a scenario otherwise known as the "Kobayashi Maru" ending in the red screen of death.
On a serious note, I did mine two weeks ago, it went fine, and its been thirty days since I've last flown on the line. Send a PM if you want more specifics. |

They also publish a lot of books and make computer software. They make E6B's too.
There is a difference between Atlantic Southeast Airlines & Aviation Supplies and Academics! :D |
Thanks for the replies guys, sounds like its not toooo bad...
|
I just had a PC about a week ago. It wasn't bad, although I did study quite a bit for it mostly because I'd rather be over prepared than under prepared. It's already been mentioned, but know your memory items, limitations, systems, all the usual stuff. Think of it this way, when you do a LOFT you are usually in for a surprise of some kind, but a PC is very straight forward, V1 cut, single engine ILS, etc. Just study a little bit and stay relaxed.

LOFT tends to be more for captains because a lot of it involves judgment and cockpit management. As the FO, just be sure you know your memory items and do what you are told. Chiming in if the skipper tries to do something dumb is a bonus. In a LOFT you really aren't in jeopardy unless you don't know how to fly, do something incredibly dumb, can't run a checklist, or don't know your memory items. Everything else is a debrief. They tend to be much lower key than a PC which is an actual checkride. |

I did not find what John said that out of line. We can not kid ourselves into thinking we are something that we are not. We "assist" the PIC in the duties of the flight.
They call for the QRH, we read it to them and do what they say. I understand where you are coming from but all of us right seaters really know where we stand. |

Wow, you're such a _ _ _ _ . It really is obvious why your career has stalled at ASA. Do you introduce yourself as "Captain"?
First, have you flown with me? Even met me in person? Then don't judge. If you had done any of those things, you'd know that in the cockpit I'm one of the most laid back captains here. Ask around the ATR FOs. I meant no malice. I said that because if he takes my advice it makes his checkride easy and stress free, It's called DOING THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF YOUR JOB. Kind of like not volunteering extra information on an oral and digging yourself a hole. Do I expect that on a daily basis? Of course not, don't be a moron. Now, those were some pretty harsh and uncalled for personal attacks. Do you feel better now? If you'd like to man up and tell me that to my face, you know where to find me. I suspect you won't. It's real easy to take shots at someone hiding behind a screen name, isn't it? WF |
Someone please don't drop the ' i bet he went to riddle ' line...gettin tired of that one
|
I found that on the LOFT, since all hell broke loose during my leg, it was the CA grabbing the QRH and we worked together on things. Maybe it was cuz I was flying with a good captain but he ran the situation by me and verified his decision with me.
|
I owe John Pennekamp a apology. Sorry. I'm a former Check Airman at ASA and can tell you the most dangerous thing in a cockpit is a complacent FO and a "IN CHARGE" Captain.
The FO is there to assist and CHALLENGE the Captain on decision making when SAFETY is concerned. We have had PLENTY of incidents at ASA that could of been prevented if the FO voiced their opinion. Once again, in know way do I infer JP is that kind of Captain. Sorry. |
No worries.
