I am going to miss the DC-9
 

I know its days are probably numbered, but what an aircraft! Still working strong after all these years. I just deadheaded on one today, and I would like to thank the NW crew for letting me come up and take a look. Its one of those planes that made me want to be a pilot, and I know i will never get to actually fly one, but them letting me come up there and take a look around was a treat.

Thanks to the likes of you and your fellow regional pilots, you will never make it to the majors at all.

I don't get it. What did you pick up from his post that made you make that statement? I understand your sentiment about regional pilots and the majors etc. but what did he say?

As far as the DC-9. I am flying the MD-82 and 83 and am not in love with it. I am all about being comfortable. The A/C in the jet leave a lot to be desired. I like the Boeing NG for a nice office enviroment. Also the MD just doesn't climb high enough to get out of the wx. I like being up at 390 or 410 to enjoy a smooth ride. (Hey Caneman, SMOOOOOTH)

Browntail, more like thanks to the likes of ALPA upper echelons who are making more money today due to the increased dues coming from the regional airline members.

Browntail, you have to go to regionals before you go to majors. Unless you fly for the government. So yea, the regional pilots will make it to the majors.

Pinnacle FO, keep up the great work! I work for 9E too, customer service/ramp and I've been very impressed with the professionalism and skill of our crews. Don't let anyone get you down. I'll be applying for a FO spot soon and I look forward to working with such great pilots. I understand that Browntail is upset at folks like us, but thats not our problem...its his. I'll miss the DC-9 as well. As a former airport ops employee, I remember when the last 9 of Eastern Airlines arrived at KPBI back in 1990. Also, I always though that those "POWERBACKS" were real kicka$$.
