ASA Probationary Interview?
I just got a message saying I have to meet with the chief pilot for one of three probationary interviews. What goes on during a probationary interview? Thanks.

Shouldn't be anything to worry about. Just to be on the safe side, I'd bring some Astrolube, Kleenex and a burrito poncho. Should be routine:)
|
Is it just your 6 month or year mark shindig?
|
I guess it will be my six month. What is it all about? Just want to know what to expect.
|
I know it was a breeze back when RC was there. I don't know what to tell you now since he is gone. Make sure your Jepps and FOM are up to date.

They just ask if you've had any problems, maybe check your manuals, review your FO evaluation you were supposed to have a captain fill out, and check your attendance/sick calls... it's basically a simple chat unless you've had some issues. If you're clean, don't sweat it.

Wrong, BSH932 is still on 1st year pay and astrolube is expensive! All you need is a rubber glove, popcorn butter, and a paper towel. All can be found just outside his office for free! Make the system work for you...:)

I went to my first one a while ago... a bunch of the chiefs had me play a practical joke on another one of the chiefs. They all laughed their asses off and said "nice work what's your name ok go home."
I haven't gotten an email for another one since then. I'm past a year now. Oh yeah and I figured I'd go in for a second one a couple months ago and the chief pilot couldn't pull up the database, so he said not to worry about it and sent me home. In short, don't worry about it. |
I am coming up on my anniversary date here in a week and a half and haven't been contacted at all for a probationary interview. Is it my responsibility to go do this? I would think if I can get by without ever going in there, I would be better off.

It's a breeze unless you have had problems in the past with sick calls and such. Lots of Luck! |

Sorry to reply to this.:) just LMAO! Vodka makes this even funnier! |
I've found a stack of unmarked cash typically makes these meetings go more smoothly, regardless of airline.:D

Does anybody know when our probationary period actually ends? Date of Hire, Checkride, IOE completion? I am just curious.

It depends. If you started class before the new contract was signed (11/20/07) then probation ends a year after your first day of indoc. If you started after the contract was signed, it's a year after you completed IOE. (pg. 170 of the contract).

Ha, was just talking to a buddy of mine today in the lounge today about how I'd smoothly managed not doing an interview or check as far as probation goes. I'd fallin through the cracks, blah blah blah. So I'm all proud of myself for being ASA's newest rebel already, right? I'm not lying, guess who gets a probation line check on the next flight not 30-minutes later!!!! Ohh the irony!!! Not bad though, great guy, and it was easy and done with (only thing he commented about was that I should say "autopilot off" instead of "hold on to something") on final...
