AWAC $35 million loan to U.S. Airways
$35 Million Loan From Air Wisconsin Part of US Airways' $950 Million Financing Package - MarketWatch
It's funny how when in arbitration the company only has $2 million in the bank and within a six months we can shell out $35 million in a loan. |
Funny how that works isn't it? Oh well, I guess that AWAC is trying to position itself with RAH to take on any flying that gets left behind by Mesa. We shall see.

I am sure that the terms of this loan are very favorable to AWAC and amounts to NO growth for us. The only thing that MIGHT happen from all this is they stop taking flying from us or they get a ground handling contract out of it. I am sure the $35 mil covers our fuel bill of our two engine taxi + apu ON vs single engine taxi for the next 12 months. |
Funny how everybody says that RAH is a cancer when they do it, but when AWAC does it that doesn't come up.
In all honesty, everybody smell's blood in the water. That blood is coming from Mesa. If I recall, Parker has said a few times that they won't be renewing the contract with them. AWAC and RAH are both positioning themselves to gain some flying. |

Difference between RAH and AWAC and every other airlines?
AWAC and every other airline has been raped and downsized (asked skywest), so that RAH could grow. AWAC is a shadow of its former self. |
how has awac been "raped and downsized...so that RAH could grow"? maybe im just missing the point but most of RAH's 50 seat usair flying has gone to AWAC in the last few years.
back to the thread, i certanily hope that awac was able to negotiate a favorable return on the money they gave usair that will help the pilot group out in the end. |

GoJet, TSA, Skywest, and Chautauqua/Shuttle got what was formerly AWAC's UAX flying. Both RAH and AWAC have invested heavily in US Airways, to their financial gain; both gave a large sum for LCC to emerge from bankruptcy (RAH got MidAtlantic, 170/175 growth and a long-term contract, AWAC got a 10 year contract for 70 RJs and LCC stock). Both carriers stand to lose SUBSTANTIAL (in AWAC's case, nearly all) revenue if US Airways becomes insolvent. Yes, it sucks for both pilot groups...but I think both RAH and AWAC management are being proactive to protect their revenue streams and also are hoping for increased Express flying in the future...which will no doubt come at someone else's expense. |
