Kansas State Mesaba Ailrines Presentation

Hey guys, we had this Kansas State alumni come talk to us about Mesaba Airlines. He told us all about Mesaba and the CRJ900 and it was so cool. He was really cool and looked awesome next to that CRJ900 He told us all about how to get hired by Mesaba right after graduation just like him and someday be a first officer on the CRJ900. He had lot of pictures of all the books that he had to carry around and told us all about how we went from stuck on the ground to flight level 370. Has Mesaba pilots come to any other colleges? Do other airlines do the same thing?

Stay in school, preferably major in industrial waste treatment. Watch out for the SJS pandemic going through 100K college flight school programs.

I think he came to your school because you guys have an agreement with Mesaba, as does UND and some other schools...always helps to know what your getting into

Jesus... for the last time there are NO AGREEMENTS WITH COLLEGES...

yes Mesaba does hire out of aviation universities... but there is no written "you have to employ/interview our students"

and please... someone lock this thread before it gets out of hand

ebl14 11-10-2008 07:13 PM

As far as I know UND doesn't have "agreements" with any airlines. There are just alot of airlines that like the product that comes out of UND so many different airlines go fishing in the UND pool. Just another uninformed post by DJ.

BURflyer 11-10-2008 07:13 PM

Why is it that Southwest pilots and CRJ900 pilots are the only ones that have their airplanes up on their avatar? It's like admitting you have secret fantasies about your airplane.

It's not an agreement but reduced hiring minima (not 600/100) for certain universities...Mesaba actually sends reps to schools and checks over their program and evaluates how well students would transition to Mesaba...sry if I misspoke...I've gone to career fairs at colleges for Mesaba...

No. Also not true. Mesaba goes to colleges to conduct interviews, not evaluate them. Its cheaper for them to fly 5 interviewers to the college than 20 candidates to Mesaba. If you look at the job description it actually says, and i quote:

The minimum preferred hours are 600 TT, 50 ME. Applicants having below the preferred hours are accepted with the approval of the company's chief pilot. Each case is reviewed on an individual basis.

I thought so, I have some more questions for you but i cant PM. Thats awesome how you got hired right away and never had to flight instruct. If I have to build more than 500 hours to get to a regional I will be upset.

Thats because I worked at NWA before I came to Mesaba, and I never said I didn't instruct...I never instructed at K-State

You should be too, and if you are lucky enough the fly "the nine" you can even wear your eppaulets (those srtipse things on your shoulders) upside down to show off to all those other guys who don't fly the heavy metal.

rager 11-10-2008 07:43 PM

But you said you went to Auburn???? Now you confessed you went to Kansas State. According to a Previous post in another thread you said you worked in Northwest Airlines Traning Department and FOQA but quit to go to Mesaba and fly an airplane not a cubicle. But my friend at Northwest says you were an Intern.

How can I believe what you say is true about Mesaba when you cant even make yourself a reputible guy. I mean I want to be an Airline Pilot like you my mentor Djrogs03. But its hard for me to believe you when you make up such lies....

he knows what they are...K-State is one of the few schools that makes their flight students wear pilot uniforms...

Kendal read what i said up top...first off i was joking...and isn't being an intern at NWA working for NWA, you worked there too and are now a pilot for XJ as well...i think i earned that at least it wasn't paid...training department yes on the 744 and did a dab in FOQA...and yes I was hired at NWA to become an ATI after K-State, but decided to take them up on the garunteed interview at Mesaba...which worked out, and I'm very thankful for it

500 hours?? are you kidding. What makes you better than the like 6000 + pilots on the streets right now with thousands of hours? I think those times are over of getting hired right into a regional. Those who did get in at that time should be more than thankful. Gotta pay your dues and 500 hours is NOT paying your dues.
