Which regional airline?

All things considered, if every regional started hiring tomorrow, which would you choose to work for?

Hands down Commutair!

C54ever!!! Yah baby!

Well let's see...How many regionals are there? That's probably how many answers you'll eventually end up with. Truthfully though my top 3 would be Expressjet, SkyWest, and Republic.

In my 9 years total at two different regional airlines, I wish I had a buck for every time this question was asked.

I think every single regional was "the place to go" at one time or another. It was Comair about 6 years ago. Look at them now.

The point is that question is useless. The place to go now will probably suck in 5 years. None of the regionals are long term because of the whipsaw power mainline management has.

If I knew then what I know now, I wouldn't have gone to pilot school. This business isn't what it used to be and is still heading downhill. There is no job security unless you're senior at a mainline. And I don't know of any way to go directly to mainline unless you flew a fighter.

air wisky and skywest.

Whichever one will hire you and pay you the best.

Mesaba seems well positioned in a post-merger world...

It's honestly like a favor of the week contest between 3 year olds.

6 years ago it was Air Wisky and Comair
3 years ago it was Skywest and Expressjet
This year: RAH

Its a moving target. Which ever will hire you, pay you the best (oxymoron I know) and give you the best quality of life (again with the moron) is the best.

PS People will disagree with what I've said, you can basically substitute anyone with who I just named.

JetPipeOverht 11-11-2008 02:13 PM

how can you list RAH as THE place to work for when their furloughing ? I would toss ASA's name in the ring due to the fact we've never furloughed and are operating very well right now, just lacking the big iron delivery

Are we talking regionals that fly regional routes or "regionals" that the DOT calls Majors and flys routes across two time zones?
