Informational Picketing

informational picketing for Trans States in STL on 11/19, noon to 3pm...hope all Waterskiers that aren't working are there!

Copperhed51 11-14-2008 11:58 AM

I'd be there if I was in STL. 6 hours of driving to picket is a little beyond what I can afford right now. Hope everybody that reasonably could make it does make it.

expectholding 11-14-2008 01:03 PM

understood, i would expect all who are not furloughed and not working to be there. anyone else of course is more than welcome. including other airlines.

Purpleanga 11-14-2008 01:31 PM

I wish I could be there as well, 2.5 years, enough is enough!

flynavyj 11-14-2008 01:53 PM

hmmm, wonder if the company will let us out of recurrent early so i can go hold a sign for a wild.

CRJ1000 11-14-2008 02:25 PM

Best of luck.... Hope it all works out for you guys.

Salukipilot4590 11-14-2008 03:24 PM

Just got the e-mail and wish I could make it however I moved back to LA after the F.

I would definitely have been there otherwise!

Anyone need some passes to come out and support your fellow pilots? I'm not going to need them after February, so might as well put them to good use now. PM if you want to come out on Wednesday.

TBucket 11-15-2008 10:15 PM

Damn, it just figures I'm working then...

flyinaway411 11-18-2008 04:30 PM

final reminder for anyone wanting to come. meeting tomorrow at 11am across from pear tree in stl.

jaded 11-19-2008 03:36 PM

How did it go? I had class today... I couldn't go...

Copperhed51 11-19-2008 04:12 PM

Also curious about how it went...

The union leaders seemed happy about the turnout. I'd say there were probably about 40 people there on and off, maybe 25 or so at a time. Part of the crowd included 2 UAL, 1 expressjet, and 1 nwa that just happened to show up.

The chief pilot and then a flight mgr was there to make sure everyone who entered the building was in uniform so they could get guys in trouble. It also sounded like mgmt called the police and told them we were badgering passengers with flyers. The STLPD came out and threatened to shut it down until the ALPA national lady showed where the rules said we could hand out flyers. <-I believe that is the correct story, but its what I picked up from all the times I passed the happenings on the orbit. Local FOX news and the Post-Dispatch were there, but we weren't on tonight yet.

One of the union reps told me that the UAL guys were impressed with ours compared to others they had attended, so I think thats a positive indication of how it went.

Other than that, my heel hurts and my stomach is full of pizza.

Had a good time on my first go around walking the line.

jaded 11-19-2008 04:27 PM

Where was it exactly across the pear tree, near the fsdo?

pagey 11-19-2008 04:57 PM

Sorry to sound uninformed....but what exactly were you guys picketing about? GoJet? Was this TSA specific, or a general industry thing?

Positive_Rate 11-19-2008 05:10 PM

I couldn't make it today...but next picketing at ALPA national in Herndon, Va, next Tuesday 25th!!!

that was the meeting point. picketing was in front of the entrance to the united ticket counters, and inside in between united and airways ticket counters.

That was nice of them to make sure those picketing were in proper uniform. We want to look good, right!

Purpleanga 11-19-2008 07:01 PM

Nothing on the news or ALPA, hopefully later. Glad to see it went well, hopefully we'll see some results. Almost 3 years is ridiculous for a regional contract.

Copperhed51 11-20-2008 01:17 PM

More picketing, this time at Dulles. Everybody show up if you can!

Fellow Pilots,

The TSA pilot group will be conducting informational picketing November 25th between noon and 3pm at Washington
Dulles Airport (IAD). Pilots should report in full uniform (per company uniform standards) at ALPA Headquarters
at 11am for a briefing. Pilots residing in the Richmond, VA area may take a shuttle van provided by the TSA MEC.
The shuttle van will depart for IAD 7:30am sharp! Richmond pilots wanting to carpool should RSVP with Rob (PM for #) and report to the back of the Richmond Employee Parking Lot by 7:30am. The shuttle
van will also return the same evening when picketing has concluded. See you there!

no prob, but i'm gonna prank call him now...say it said on APC, for a good time, call......

Copperhed51 11-20-2008 04:39 PM

my bad, didn't notice that was in there

Purpleanga 11-26-2008 11:36 AM

Just saw the alpa tv bit on TSA. What's up with the turnout on the Dulles picket. Pretty sad, especially since no one from the public seemed to even care.

Copperhed51 11-26-2008 12:41 PM

I'm not really sure how many people we have based in Dulles right now. I get the feeling that it's not very many and that may account for the turnout issues but who knows. There's that plus the fact that we don't have that many pilots to begin with and the ones we do have were probably busy flying for the most part. How many did show up to picket anyway?

Purpleanga 11-26-2008 01:17 PM

It said 15. Just seems kind of a low turnout for a major hub, especially since there are other ALPA pilots that might be around IAD.

flynavyj 11-26-2008 09:42 PM

wish i could have made it out. Was through dulles on the picketing day, but didn't have enough time between turns to get outside and say waddup, or carry a sign...
