9E Vacancies....

Anyone heard if there is going to be another vacancy this year? I know we ended on a good note with the displacement, just wondering if anyone has heard about a vacancy...

Something tells me that captain upgrade at 9E is going to go very senior for the next couple of months due to the lack of upgrades recently.

I am so grateful we aren't furloughing, just always looking to get a better paycheck and possibly get some PIC hours, eventually.

Thoughts?

things should start picking up here pretty soon. i don't think they will announce anymore vacancies before the end of the year though. i think there will be several that will come in the first few months of the year. yeah the displacement worked out for everyone. people that wanted to go to atlanta got it all paid for by the company and a nice fat displacement check. the 3 guys that got displaced back to fo will now stay as captains, instead of being displaced.

and yes i do believe the next upgrades will go fairly senior at first. i am waiting on a chance, along with several others, to upgrade. but once the first few classes get filled, then it will go back to the way it was and have several vacancies go with no available/qualified bidders.

one more side note i have heard that our contract is pretty much done. once again i wont hold my breath. but the company put out a memo saying things were wrapped up, and the union reps and negotiators are saying the same thing. apperantly the only thing left now is scope. and from what i have heard from ff and some union guys is that if colgan votes in alpa it will be an easy thing to do, if not, be prepared for another couple of years.

one more side note. i am not holding my breath or getting excited about the contract.. fool me once shame on you,, well you know.

As of 2 weeks ago the next vacancy plan was not for 6 months. This was from the mouth of those in the know. Marketing changes and if we get a contract COULD change that forecast. With the new Fo's hitting the lines on the -200 side, the -900 folks from the last vacancy being on the line in ATL, and the training dept folks coming back to line flying, the company does not see the need for any upgrades or NH training. As of a couple weeks ago the initial plan on the "temp" -900's remains the same, meaning we will only operate our 16 lines as originally planned and currently being executed. We are positioned to operate more -900's but currently this is not what is appearing to happen. I would expect (personally) to see 1 upgrade class and 1 NH class in the spring to setup for summer flying, but this notion of mine is not very good if DL keeps the marketing hours low. I will agree that the upgrades will go VERY senior when they open back up. I imagine Airsupport will hold a CA spot, but I may not (I am 40ish in MEM). Folks here less than 2 years can forget about it on basis of seniority.

hey higney, you are a p2p. is what i said about the contract the same thing you are hearing? i heard that last week before thanksgiving from ph and ff. ff came in to tell everyone how wonderful they were... you know how that is.

I could swear there were new hire guys with street captain mins listed as alternates on the last CA vacancy for ATL this fall. Maybe I was seeing things...are you estimating people who "would've" bid on that last ATL CA vacancy but held out for 200 CA will now bid on whatever CA slot they can hold after seeing things will be slow for a long time? That's what I'm thinking.

I concur...from what I hear, April is the plan for the next significant vacancy...not sure if that's the posting or effective date though

Airsupport and others... From what I have been TOLD there are still things to be done on the contract. If you have specific questions feel free to PM me. I WILL NOT get beaten in the corner again for broadcasting info on a public forum. I will say this much... A "Christmas Contract" is not a realistic gift from Santa but it never hurts to ask. With this industry the way it is a contract could happen overnight if the right people are in a jam, or it can take another 4+ years if the right people have the right people jammed up. I will say that the company and ALPA are talking again and there were firm "demands" placed by the union before talking again. These "demands" keep mgmt from talking and working in positive territory for a month and then deciding to change their minds (The DC meeting). There should be a PD hotline in the next couple days with updates from the union, specific questions you can PM me. If I don't know for sure I will get you an answer from the appropriate source.

Not only will upgrades go senior, but all the other bases will go senior as well thanks to guys trying to sport bid and getting caught off base... I know 2 Memphis captains I've flown with lately who are trapped in Detroit.

At least in DTW they are fat on captains... its been easy for them to drop many trips per month.
