Default 9E loses AVL Ground Ops Bid

c/p from 9E:

"....Russ Elander.... updated the bidding status for all of our partner city locations. We are disappointed we did not win the Asheville-Hendersonville, NC (AVL) bid and want thank all of our AVL People for their dedication to the Pinnacle family. Let me emphasize that this bidding process has nothing to do with their performance. It is our intent to negotiate with Continental to continuing our ground handling for them in AVL. We have already been in contact with Continental and will hear from them soon. Nothing new on the other city awards, but we will let you know as soon as we do."

Hope this loss isn't a sign of things to come for 9E ground ops!
The article did not mention who was awarded the contract..does anyone know?

yeah all the ASA people are out, too. Comair is taking over for the delta side of things, I just hope most of the good folks at AVL (don't know their names but definitely know their faces) can get hired on by Comair.

ASA 'AND' Pinnacle folks BOTH lost out to Comair in AVL?? Yikes! Makes me wonder about TYS, CHA and TRI! Surely Comair won't win ALL of the 50+ station bids?!

Didn't 9E just staff AVL OPS very recently??

i wonder if the guys who post over on airlinerampercentral.com are having a discusion about how 1 crappy regional stole another crappy regional's ground services, and about which ramp service is not the one bringing down the industry. But something tells me they are more professional than that....

There are about 19 ASA cities up for bid. Delta is just about putting all the DCI cities up for bid. They (DL) are trying to cut cost. If you work for ASA i would be very worried. The so called retention package ASA is giving its emp is a joke.
Comair stands a good chance at winning a lot of cities. Because they dont pay very well. As for the Pinnacle emp some them will get rasies. Because they also dont pay very well. Also dont look for Pinnacle to work COEX very long. From what i here they will want to rebid AVL with only 2 flts you cant very well make money. My guess US Air EXP may get it since CO wants out of Sky Team and into Star where USAIR Exp is.

I just have to laugh.... If you work for ASA I would be very worried?

I am just as worried as the next guy except, I haven't been F-ed yet... I think if you work at ANY regional you should be worried.

yeah whatever about the ASA speculation, all i've got to say is we're all going to see this through 08' into '09 and whoever's left standing is a winner. Don't think cause you're airline hasn't been mentioned you're safe,or better than us

Any word on any other stations?? Such as TRI......ROA.....CRW?? I guess it doesn't really matter, but will be hard to see the people that we have gotten to know at outstations get replaced by the next group of people willing to work for less....wow they must feel like pilots!!!
