Or you could just hand-fly

Well I'm at Mesa, but I was flying around in a 200 one day and I noticed that placard, it must have been about 2-3 weeks ago. Finally today we get the memo. 200 is a flap extension speed, so I guess we can speed back up if we want.

I flew last week (for the first time in 12 weeks or so) and didn't see anything about this.

Flew yesterday and no new SOP changes. Maybe tomorrow?

well if you drop the gear will that slow you down sufficiently?

We can only hope that SkyWest adopts 200 knots as well...it will keep those airplane-drivers (because they sure the heck aren't Pilots) from calling "Flaps 8, Flaps 20" right at 215 knots, giving everyone on board some nasty whip-lash

It probably will but I'd rather not drop the gear at 12,000 feet on downwind. It's not impossible to get down, just a pain with the new limitation.

I was surprised how little the gear slows you down when dropped without flaps.

Because it's such a low wing, the struts are very short.

Not mutch profile drag!
