EV Furlough

Just heard from a friend that EV is sending out furlough notices to be received next week. Anyone heard a similar story? The "details" from my source say:

30 Day Notice
No Recalls in 2009

I don't know what you're talking about. I'm a no preference reserve and I've already credited over 100 hours this month.

<sarcasm intended>

Wait for serious?

Nothing from the company yet, but BH seemed a little somber in his weekly message. I wouldn't be surprised.

How many do you all expect?

I was really hoping for ASA to start hiring sooner than later.

atlmsl 12-17-2008 10:27 AM

According to our no furlough clause only about 120 are furloughable, for whatever that's worth. The union has mentioned the no furlough clause a few times in its emails, so I would assume they intend on making sure that stands.

I don't have any idea how many. We have 130 extra FOs on the -50, not sure how many on the -70. And most lines are blocked under guarantee to spread things around. I think 10% is a historical number (don't quote me on that, I know it always depends on what's needed) though ASA hasn't ever furloughed so there's nothing to base that off of...

As people have said, wouldn't be surprised. Just wondering if anyone had heard anything else recently.

As for Andy's comment, I would love to hear something about hiring, though I think that the other threads that point to 2010 or later are legit. I don't see how anyone could justify any kind of growth (mainline or regional) nowadays. And since ASA hasn't gotten any new flying, they can't have much to justify keeping us around...

the ASA ship be sinking.
