Seattle commuters
Is anybody even going to try getting to work over the next few days?
|
Why...is it bad?? LoL
|
I am going to make a stab at it. Was able to make it out of Spokane for my last trip (in the middle of all the crap starting up). Though I caught the last Horizon flight to leave SEA home before they ran out of de-ice/anti-ice fluid.
Start my next trip on Christmas : ( |
I just got my first taste of the winter commute into ORD in the last couple of weeks...why do we do this?!
|
my friend just did that commute to ATL.... had to go through MCO to get there if that helps.
|
I'm gonna give it a whirl, but it's a real mess out there. It's tough to get to ANYWHERE out of SEA right now, let alone a place like ORD.

Yep, and we on the corporate side got caught up in the same quagmire with no deice fluid. Luckily yesterday the manager at ASIG was able to broker some de-ice fluid. That took the night of the 2oth-21st. Yesterday we got deiced, then had to pick up someone and bring them back to SEA. I was jkong before we left in that what else could happen scenario--run out of fuel?-----Yep, thats exactly what happened. The same pass through the mountains where the deice fluid comes from is also the route where fule comes from. I do feel bad for many pax that I talked with at the hotel who were stranded until after christmas. But I guess its the risks we take flying in December.BTW, that japanese steak house connected to the best western is really good for fresh sushi!

Just took a redeye out lastnight to work and it was no problem... I really was close to callin in and just hittin up Mt. Baker or Crystal and skiing though!

the fuel for the airport is a pipeline that comes form up north. i know that gas stations where running out of fuel. this de-ice thing happens everytime it snows more than one day at seatac. you would think thatt hey would look at a forcast and order more. i also heard that the makers of de-ice fluid are on strike and that there is a shortage. some people have been at the airport for days when there final destination is 200 miles away. how bout renting a car or something. definetly would have went skiing. the snow is epic right now. serious pow.

From Dec. 10 until Jan 15th, I travel on a confirmed ticket in and out of Seattle. A few years ago it took me 54 flights (at the gate for every single departure over the course of 3 days) to get back home after the fog monster rolled in for 3 hours.
Doesn't sound like a paid ticket would have done much good this year, except the company is a lot more forgiving if you have a full fare ticket and the delays were beyond your control. However, if stuck while nonreving and/or jumpseating, that is another story. |
