It is ERJ's not CRJ's

My predictions:

CAL will use the funding of their pension to strong-arm CAL pilots into negotiating away their 69 seat scope clause. You'll see RH 170's in CALEX colors within two years.

At the first possible date, CAL will notify XJT of an additional 69 airframe loss of block hours.

XJT will only return 25 airframes to CAL, those LRJ's will be the only 50 seat flying CHQ does for CAL

XJT will announce a new deal with one or more of the following entities: AA, DAL, WN and NetJets. Don't be surprised to see 190's involved.

XJT will remain a great place to work, we already have the best completion, reliability and customer service metrics in the 50 seat industry, not to mention a better pilot/management relationship than anybody.

Best of luck to my friends at Chautauqua, welcome to the Express family, my brothers and sisters.

You entry level pilots looking for the fastest upgrade time are missing the point completely. You legacy pilots who complain that we regionals have ruined the industry are correct, but look in the mirror and or the left seat to see who's responsible.

Anybody who puts any stock in my post or who doesn't take this industry with a grain of salt is in for a disappointment.

Y'all better have a backup job or two ready to go. I have three. What's in your wallet?

LJDRVR,
I hope you're right and we at Express can find some more flying.
CAL management will definetely find a way to get around that scope clause and have the regionals flying 70 to 90 seat RJs. They are the only major without some one flying the bigger RJs. Their time will come too unfortunately for all of us.

So my buddie is flying for Express Jet and is on reserve... could this mean a job termination? Because, that would really suck!

The math is easy, figure out how many pilots per airplane XJET has, then multiply that times 69 planes = expected number of furloughs.

Typical number might be 6 pilots per plane x 69 planes = 400+ furloughs.

Wrong, our number of pilots is based on block hours not aircraft. Also the company has stated on a number of occasions it has no real plans on returning any aircraft back to CAL. the company is going to run real lean on pilots this year that way if the worst happens they wont have to furlough. In my opinion anyone hired here will be fine. Lots of things in the works coming up here and i wouldnt be surprised to hear an announcement come out soon regarding the issue and possibly including growth. We will see.

XJT's economics are similar to all the other regionals, so it's got to be pretty close to 6-8 pilots per RJ, even if it's determined by block hours. The 400+ number still applies. Explain how a block-hour calculation would come up with a vastly different number?

If XJT management can re-employ the airplanes or minimize furloughs through normal attrition, awesome! As I have said before, if you are job hunting, XJT right now would be a gamble. CHQ looks like a better prospect, although personally I would prefer to work for XJT. But I would prefer to be employed too.

LJDRVR,

I'm sorry. Did I hear you correct? Did you say NetJets? It is apparent that you don't know what type of flying NetJets does. Your prediction is wrong. And BTW, I have common knowledge in my wallet.
