I had a Go Jets jumpseater the other day. He was a furloughed ATA pilot, about 50 years old. He had also been furloughed from Pan Am previously. He was a really nice guy, and I gladly offered him a ride. It was clear that he was apprehensive as he asked for a ride, as he had most likely been abused just because of where he now works.

Moral of this story... not all Go Jets pilots are SJS kids or scabs trying to screw you. Give them a chance and give them a ride.

Amen Brother.

We don't know the circumstances that makes a person do something out of necessity. Just be nice and treat people like you want to be treated, regardless of who they work for.

Goof I hope, but maybe they could find another job at 20k a year, but who would leave flying just for that? I think getting 20k a year as a pilot sure beats out getting 20k a year at McDonalds!:D

My point was that there are other jobs outside of aviation available that will pay just as much as first or second year FO at pretty much the worst regional out there. If things got so bad at TSA that I got furloughed, I am most certainly not going to apply at g0jet. I am done with flying if that were my only option. I could manage a QT for $35,000 per year and be home every night or sit junior reserve at the industry pariah for a spell. Tough decision.

Tell that to the guys we have on furlough while they're hiring. They certainly got screwed by the pseudo-scabs...

I agree with you but that doesn't matter to anyone now. No one other than the 05 TSA/GJ pilots are responsible for the mess. One random guy who is furloughed from some place isn't going to care what happened in 05. We need to find a way to solve the GJ problem and unfortunately, blaming pilots will make us feel better but it won't get us anywhere.

Well said... this crap needs to stop. Management has us like pit bulls at Michael Vick's place.

Sometimes we are our own worst enemy.

What is an "SJS Kid"?

Disclaimer:
I am not an RJ driver and I don't have anything to do with TSA or Go Jets.

Vamp, SJS is "Shiny Jet Syndrome," major aeronautical educational institutions seem to infect kids with it these days...

Dont limit it to major schools... I get walk-ins all the time at my airport asking "what do I have to do to fly jets?"... Best one I ever had was a kid of about 19 or 20 saying his parents wanted to buy a jet like a citation 5 in the next few months and wanted him to fly it.... He was a zero timer so I explained he would be more likely to get struck by lightening 10 times in a row than to even get insurance....
