? for Shuttle America

What's the big deal about boarding your a/c 30mins prior to departure on the Delta Shuttle? This week is your 1st week of flying a large schedule out of the MAT on the Shuttle and you guys have managed to upset nearly all the gate agents and all the ops agents and all of LGA mgt by refusing to board 30mins prior. That is part of the product! They have be doing it that way since before most of your pilots were born.... What gives?

The agreement with DAL and Shuttle America as it stands right now is 20 minutes. Obviously the new shuttle route is the exception - but it's new, so they haven't worked everything out yet. One of the LGA Delta chief pilots told me they are in the process of making amends from the contractual 20 minutes to 30 for the shuttle flying only.

Did I miss something??? Did the Shuttle become Shuttle America??? That's an institution for crying out loud....and its farmed out now?

Have they been late? The aircraft are also smaller so less seats to fill. I have no idea how the operation is going there but Shuttle's numbers have always been good. If it ain't broke don't fix it. If you're JSing then just thank them and have a seat.

Our manuals say 20 minutes and a lot of the older flight attendants will thro a fit if you start throwing pax at them before that.

I'm a 30 minutes board them kind of guy. Whatever makes the plane leave 5 minutes early (if at all possible) then great. Just kindly tell the FA that we are boarding 30 mins prior.

I'll do MDW-LGA-MDW or LGA-DCA-LGA all day long. Rampers & gate agents are very nice and the rampers know how to put the bags on the plane in time.

I am averaging the Load Report 10 minutes before departure in MDW and LGA

We've been flying MDW-LGA since I started there. The MAT and Shuttle product are nothing new to us. Based on your "before we were born" comment I'm betting this is flamebait.

Actually, although the MDW flights go into the MAT, it's still not part of the Delta Shuttle.........yet

They are trying to build it up to that.

I think the previous poster's meaning is that those shuttle pax are used to the shuttle routine, which means boarding at 30 prior. Most of them don't know that they are stepping onto a technically different a/c and carrier. Personally, if those things are full at what, 64 or 70 seats or whatever, boarding at 20 prior seems to me to be asking for some late block outs and DAL comes down heavy on gate agents for even a minute late. That's probably what has the station personnel so worked up.

Whether flamebait or not, the "before most of SA's pilots were born" comment is also probably accurate.

I bet your manual says a min of twenty mins prior... If not, that can probably be change in the next revision to say a minimum of 20 prior.

The Delta/PanAm Shuttle has been boarding 30 prior and allowing walk ups till 2 mins before departure time for decades... Why does Shuttle America think they can change 30 years of refinement?

Flamebait is far differant from the truth... I think before you were born is the truth...
