how many times have you flown with a hung-over FA? They act like its all a big deal what they do, but half of them couldn't evac an RJ! (sorry to all you Caps who married one )

Didn't know where to post this one, as I was truly shocked....
Staying at a certain hotel @ IAD that is used by a lot of crews (Trans States, Mesa, and at least a couple of majors)
I went down to the restaurant to pick up dinner (take out). The restaurant is mostly a bar. When I sat down to order dinner, I saw a flight attendant in uniform dress sitting at the bar. I thought it was kind of weird, but thought maybe she was in a rush, and at this hotel, the "restaurant portion" is always closed for private functions. Well, bartender serves FA a tall beer, which FA starts drinking at the bar. She then starts talking to her neighbors about which airline she works for, what equip she flew in on, how long she has worked for airline, etc.
So my question to you, is what would you do? I didn't get a pic, would be too hard, but she told her airline and equip type, as well as where she is from, etc. I still couldn't believe what I saw. I obviously work for a regional, and while not acceptable, could see this happening at a regional. Was shocked to see this with a mainline FA.

I'm still surprised that it bothered you enough to post about this. It's never any fun to be around a priss at work.

I know it's hard to believe but that actually is their primary job. What does pilot/FA have anythin to do with it? They are crew members in charge of pax safety, in many cases during crashes FAs have been primary life savers. Think of it in terms of the pax. If your FA was half wasted, would you want her/him on your flight?
Dude......FA's are worthless.......Do you really think if there was an accident people are going to be trying to hear what the FA is saying!?!? Absolutely not. They are going to do whatever they have to do to get out of the airplane....regardless of what the FA/FA's say. What a crap job. It takes a certain type to be an FA and most are weirdos.

While I agree that it was poor form for a uniformed airline crew member to be seen drinking alcohol in a bar, I gotta add these points.
You saw her drinking one beer, right? Was she acting obnoxiously drunk?
Does not sound like it from your post.
She was at a hotel, not an airport or anywhere near an airplane, right?
Was she done with her duty day/time?!!!!!
Did you ask her if she was off duty? Or anywhere near going on duty?
Or ask her if the company she works for has a formal policy against drinking in uniform? Maybe they don't, and trust their crews to be able to make judgements on their conduct in and out of uniform on their own?
Also as far as FA's duties, there have been plenty of accidents where survivors have praised the cabin crew for helping them evacuate the aircraft.
As far as your comments about wanting to take a picture of her, that's just creepy, especially seeing that nowhere in your post do you mention speaking with her about your concerns about her actions. Would you have posted it here if you had taken one?

Well Lalo, you give credence to the old adage… “There are definitely more @$$es than horses in this world.
Watch out for that coffee that F/A brings you while in the flight deck... Visine is a killer.

So were you in your uniform.....if you were you to could be subjet to a violation....think about it....drink in hand or not...

There are plenty of people out there looking to burn someone for this type of thing. DON'T be one of them. Unless she is your flight attendant and by that I mean the one you are knocking on, leave it alone. Sounds like she's giving herself enough rope she'll hang sooner or later.

What I disagree with here though is the idea that is contained in the OP's initial post and some follow on comments that the FA in question committed an act that she should be "hung" in your words for.
Again- Was she consuming alcohol on duty or in violation of time to duty regulations? I think we can safely say she was nowhere near an aircraft since the "incident" was seen in a hotel. As far as whether she was going to be on duty after consuming alcohol, it seems the OP's comments about what he/she overheard tell us that she had recently FINISHED her duty day?
Again- Does her company have a policy against consuming alcohol in uniform if it does not violate FAA and company duty/alcohol regulations?
Again- The OP was only there long enough to pick up some take-out food.
Was the FA staying at the hotel, or perhaps was she done with a duty period at home station and waiting to be picked up by a friend or relative?
Again- What apparent laws did she violate other than offending the OP's OPINIONS of consumption of alcohol in uniform?
Again- If the OP was a law enforcement or FAA official, what would the OP have found unlawful in what was seen? Would a law enforcement official resort to not questioning her, but instead contemplated taking an surreptitious photo of her and, more importantly posting garbage like the original post?
This is America still, right? Innocent until proven guilty? It offends me greatly that the OP has the apparent lack of judgement to post some innuendo filled, sensationalistic garbage like this in the first place.
WHAT LAWS OR FAA REGULATIONS were broken by the FA in question? Do we know if her company has a policy against responsible alcohol use in uniform when it does not conflict with company or FAA regulations?

I would say who care if anyone drinks in uniform but you have to think of it from a pax view. People are stupid and run most of their lives on assumption. A passenger who sees a FA or a pilot or a cop drinking in uniform they assume that since they can't take the time to take the uniform off to drink then that person will drink when they are working too. Think of it this way, there are tons of people who are affraid to fly who think of it as putting their lives in your hands. I mean seriously how hard is it to take the uniform off? I don't care if you tell people all day your a pilot while fall down drunk if your not in uniform, then your just being an a$$ and we have all been there. Bottom line, as long as your still in uniform your still representing your company whether your a FA, pilot, or a ramp worker. If you can't do that then go be a lawyer everyone already thinks they are dirt bags, and you make more money.
