Bose headset issue in CRJ-700
 

I'm having an annoying issue with my Bose X headset in the CRJ-700. There's a static clicking noise that occurs every second at cruise. Doesn't seem to happen much on the ground but in the air it's super annoying. It's in my right ear in the right seat. I can turn my head and it goes away or starts in the left ear, when I look straight it's in my right hear. I can tilt my head back and it goes away. It's driving me crazy, anyone using this headset having this problem? Bose thinks it's in the airplane and not the headset but if everyone's did this at my company I'd hear alot more about it.

Please no replies about why it's rediculous and overkill to use this headset in the jet but it's what I had before I started this job and I may as well use it.

I already hit reply, then I read you didn't want any replies about your headset being ridiculously overkill for a CRJ, and looks retarded on you, so I won't say that.

I've had the same experience in the 200. The windshield heat interferes with my Bose headset.

Did you remember to turn off your cell phone?...that clicks and buzzes on the bose...along with airport radar

if it sounds like a vibrating popping noise that randomly moves around and gets worse when you face different directions then your anr is going bad. you will have to send it in for repairs.

Airsupport is right. Had the same problem, called them and sent them in. Unfortunately it happened again, but that's what warranties are for. Try this next time, put a finger on the throttles or the metal part of the yoke and see if it goes away.

Thanks for the replies. I figured someone was going to waste my eyes with some non-sense. I'm going to troubleshoot some tomorrow and see if I can get it to go stop by turning stuff off. Already tried panel light reostat's, exterior lights, etc... to no avail. I'll plan on sending them in when I feel like wearing DC's with everyone's dandruff all over them.

I usually get a small continuous popping noise in my right ear as we're climbing and in cruise. Like you I've tried different things including asking the Captain to temporarily shut-off the beacon and strobes. No luck. It doesn't consistently do it every leg or in every aircraft, but when it does it f'ing annoying!

It's also only in my right ear and I sit right seat.

................. Howbout you turn off the ANR, that may also work especially in a jet cockpit.

How about everyone puts down the jet ego and admits it really isn't that quiet.

I had the same problem, sent them to Bose. They said one of the ANR parts was broken, repaired it, and more or less refurbished my entire headset. I was left with a "like new" headset for the cost of shipping it to them.
