Whisky is confusing, I send them my resume when they had all those adds out in Dec 05. But not a word from them. Anyway friends at various airlines say Skywest is the place to go for a quick upgrade, approx 2-3 yrs for the EMB-120. Besides I heard bad rumors about Whisky chasing their senior pilots out when making the transition to the east coast.

Lots of internal memos at SkyWest asking us to forward names of candidates. Something is cooking. Still firm on the 1000+100 as has been the case in the past and I think will be the case for years to come. Apply at 1000+100 and keep updating.

How senior are the west coast bases, such as SFO or LAX?

West Coast

At SkyWest, in the Jet, LAX and SFO are reserve bases only and flucuate in senority. Captains seem Sr. and Fo's go Jr. Sacramento, Palm Springs are the most senior bases in the system. Frenso can be Jr for Fo's but for captains you need to be in the top 1/3 of senority to get in.

As far as the EMB120- Fresno is the Jr base for all. MRY, SAN, San Luis Obispo are senior for both CA/FO

Hello Gents & Gals,

I'm a Captain, six years, with AWAC and believe AW is hiring. As the saying goes you never know if you don't try. I encourage any and everyone to apply EVERYWHERE not only Air Wisc! One year I sent out over 1000, yes 1000, resumes and cover letters. I considered myself lucky if I received a rejection letter. Point is all they can do is say no. Currently I'm trying to get on with any other carrier, pax or cargo. Sometimes it's who you know, sometimes perserverance (sp?), sometimes dumb luck or a combination of all three. So quit watching tv, playing video games and become proactive. Update your resume and cover letter and keep yourself current. As a side note I went to an ARINC job fair in June 2004 PHX, they were literally handing out jobs to pilots who were beginning their careers, even with low time.

Good Luck to all!

Reading the above posts, I was hired by Skywest the same time I was hired by Air Wis. I chose Air Wis for various reasons, paid during training, based in Denver... In hind sight I wish I had taken Skywest they are a fine company. If you do get hired at Air Wis I strongly encourage you to keep applying to Skywest. This industry has no loyalty to its employees so don't feel that you owe them anything if you're hired by another carrier. Air Wis and SW really are only stepping stones for many.

Does anyone here that works for Skywest know if new hires can go straight to the CRJ if they have a considerable amount of twin turbine 121 time or do all new hires go staright to the Brasilia?

You have to go to the Brasilia until you prove to them that you can handle a real airplane. Then, they will send you to the CRJ after that.
